All,

LEt me first thank you for all the infos shared, I really learn a lot from your advices, and I love most of the photos you post in here.

Secondly, I purchased a d70 and I would like to buy a spare battery, but the original nikon is around 45€ and you can find some other ones on ebay.co.uk for as little as 9GBP plus delivery for 2 of them! Is it a royalcamera.com sort of scam? Or you think is reliable?

Many thanks for your advices!

i bought a spare battery at http://www.eurobatteries.com for 13£ and am quite happy with the purchase. I dont know how long it will last, but I have never heard of a copy-battery exploding in a D70 camera (which was my biggest worry before buying)

I don't think that it's really an issue of them lasting a fraction of the time, all Li-Ion batteries only last two years from date of manufacture before they start deteriorating sharply.

The issue is really quality of design / manufacture, as some cheap Li-Ion batteries have been known to explode, especially (only?) in cellphones.

I have a couple of these cheap batteries, and they perform as well as, if not better, than the original Nikon batteries.

But you pays your money and takes your chances.
Many of the Websites I've looked at are around £40 for a genuine
Nikon. Why bother getting a £9 battery which will last a fraction
of the time?

I bought the cheapest one I could find on ebay. I could not tell the difference between that and the Nikon one.

I also did the same for my old coolpix a few years back and never had an issue.

Avoid Royal Camera at all costs. Check http://www.resellerratings.com . They bait and switched me to death when I got my cp995.

Watch out for 7.2V versions of the battery. They should be 7.4V.

As always, check for other threads regarding batteries for the D70, there is a lot more useful information out there.

Good luck,

Many thanks to all you guys, this forum is like having a big family, everybody ready to give a hand!

I was joking about royalcamara.com, I use it when I want to describe a rip off company!

Thanks again!
