There haven't been many recent posts about the canon s20 3.3 mp camera, I was just wondering what you guys thought about it? Amazon.com is selling a bundle with: camera, carrying case, 32mb card (extra from the included 16mb card), and extra battery all for $399. I was wondering if this was a good deal? I have an s110 right now, love the image quality, but was looking into getting a cheaper 3.3 megapixel camera. Just wanted to know what you guys felt about it. Thanks!

Hi, Chester. Go for it. Price sounds good and the S20 is, clearly, a quality camera. Of course, if you want something lots better, drop a few more bucks and go for the G1. I wouldn't be too excited about the free 32MB card. Anything smaller than 128MB is almost a waste of time. They simply don't hold enough to bother with, in my opinion.

Its a very good camera, and the price sounds good too. You'll need rechargeable batteries (2) and charger, so try to get a good deal on that too.

Chester,

I looked at the S110 & S300, but for the money I went with the S20. I just got my S20 Value package from Amazon last week. I also bought the charger with a extra battery (NMHI). You'll go broke if you try to power this camera with 2cr5 lithiums. It's a very nice camera indeed. I believe it's a real value for the money paid. If you want one don't wait too long, because they're discontinued & won't last long. I paid Amazom $449 for the kit. When I read your post & saw the $399 price I e-mailed Amazon. They're crediting my charge card the $50 differance. I'm very happy with Amazons service. Almost forgot this, Amazon has free shipping now for any electronics & camera purchases over $99.

I got this package last week. It's a great and easy camera to use, and the price is unbeatable. I recommend it. You'll definitely need the rechargeable battery kit, which costs 100 at AMAzon, making it $500 total. You won't find any better deal than this.

if you need any help, I can shed a little light on this cam. you guys got a great deal. one year ago today I spent $800 for everything...also got a higher res printer....next cd/rw

don't buy the nicad batteries, at first they last ok but with the charger they tend to develope memory effect...the camera leaves about 15-20% charge when it shuts down and you will soon see less operating time.

i suggest first invest in:

128m card or larger
no-memory batteries NoMEM Nickel Metal-Hydride ebay has them for $35
universal battery charger from radio shack with a "recondition function"...

have fun and post!
