Best accessories

Hi Folks,

My best friend had his camera stolen and decided on the rebel to replace it. I would like to get him something for it for Christmas. What would you say is the best, your favorite, most used or practical accessory. I was thinking of the 50mm 1.8, or maybe a car charger. What else would be a good idea?

That lens is an excellent idea, or

battery grip,
camera bag,
polarizing filter,
Photoshop Elements 3,
remote shutter release,
tabletop or regular tripod,

I will probably get him remote you mentioned and the lens. He is new to slr photography. He came from an all in one unit and said he is going to get the kit lens just because its cheap packaged w/ the kit and then a 28-300 to have the equivalent zoom of his old unit. I know he eventually appreciate a fairly decent prime for some stuff. I found the remote for under $30 so I will probably get him that too for a christmas/birthday/sorry you got robbed present package.
