One suggestion in some of the Kelby books is to select all, transform and drag the side slider until the %=95; then crop the extra mat. This gives a little slimmer look. Any more will look distorted or out of character. There are also techniques to trim a little off arms, legs or buttocks. They involve selecting a little of the excess baggage and move it in a little.

A little Photoshop dieting can be done by making a large selection around an area that is too wide - including a lot of the background, feathering it quite a bit (20 pixels?) and then going to filter/distort/pinch and playing with the slider. I little experimentation will teach you how to use this method. I've used it on inflated middles...never on a face, however.

I know there are certain camera angles, and lighting techniques that can make a big difference. I just don't know what they are. Use appropriate angles and lighting, then finish up in PS. Make sure she is wearing appropriate clothing also.

I shot this today.... I removed about 50lbs by using the transform tool as mentioned above and some healing brush.

If you can visualize it, then create it in the camera, finish it off with the print that matches your mind's eye then you are, most likely, a master...

Paul,

I think those are all excellent suggestions, and I offer the following photo to back it up. Very little PP on this shot ... a little USM and noise reduction.

I think the pose and the clothing choice made all of the difference here. It didn't hurt that she has a radiant smile! :-)

I reduced your pic to 92 percent just to show effect. I am not saying this is an improvement, and 94 percent would have worked better.. Just wanted to show simple edit and results. hope you dont mind

ROTFLMFAO!!!!!

actually, you can make them look good at the time the picture is taken simply by having the subject lean toward you (NEVER (!) away from you) and lift the chin to look straight at the camera...this tends to tighten up some loose areas around the neck face and the perspective is more flattering...also, go for tighten zooms/crops to trim away excess areas (i.e. NO wide angles)...

just some ideas...
