Water lillies.
ISO 100
Manual Exposure, partial metering.
Canon 70-200 F2.8L
Converted to Black + White
Used curves for lighting up the shadows, used auto contrast
Unsharpmask 300%

I like the quality of the black and white "I" get from the D30.This is only my opinion.I feel the cameras full potential is an ever learning curve, there is alot this D30 is capable of doing. This photo was taken at 12:00 noon so the water will be a bit blown out, thats what I wanted to capture.I wanted to see how it would do in the highlights, once turned to black+white. Conclusion I am happy with what it gave me.
thanks

nice...looks almost like some exotic bird. funny how some photos work far better in B+W.

I'm with David on this one, nice shot! What did you use to bring it to B&W? I've been wavering between digidaans stuff, and the various SilverOxide plugins that render specific types of looks (TriX, PanX and such...) from a Color Image...

In photoshop i just converted it to black + white. Then changed it back to RGB, basically that is for printing. That is just a habit and nothing else.

any luck with the plug-ins you tried ? any of them strike you as a good replication of traditional methods ?
