I am looking to replace my 25 year old heavy steel tripod, but don't want to spend a fortune. Only use one occasionally, but naturally want good quality and features. Any recommendations for the 828?

Thanks,

I use a Bogen/Manfrotto 3011 with a Slik Pistol Grip Panhead.

I use it with my Swift Telemaster Spotting Scope and both my Mavica FD97 and my 828.

I know it sucks to carry around a HEAVY Pod but for a heavier camera or the like I find it tolerable.

If your looking for zero camera shake on long focal lengths or tedious macro you need a rock steady pod. ESP at ISO64!!

I had a Velbon of the same size but lighter weight..... it didn't cut the mustard.
Dunno if this helps.....just my 2 cents if it's worth that? :-)

If you are thinking about ever shooting panoramics, get a tripod with calibrated head.

This is what I use with my 828:

Very pleased with it, inspite of it's weight.

Thanks, Treven. I ordered one today. Looks like a good value to me.
