So here I am thinking about getting a universal TV remote to trigger my D70 and I remember that my PDA has an IR port. It is an iPaq 2210, with commercial grade IR. I have used it in the past to control my TV and wondered if it would also work with the camera (using the NEVO remote program that came with the PDA). I have read that the Sanyo TV codes seem to work the best, so I tried it. It works perfectly (using the 7th code sequence listed) when pressing the power button. I dont see why this would not work with any other PDA with commerical IR. Give it a try and let me know how it works.

I tried this with my 2210 but with no joy.

Can you say the exact settings please

Sure thing. Open up the NEVO program and choose "Add Device", then select "TV" as the device type. Choose the "Select Brand" option on the next screen. Select "Sanyo" from the next drop down menu. At this point, turn on your camera and set it up so that the remote will trigger release, aim it at a target and press the sutter to focus. Back to the PDA, the top drop down menu should display "Sanyo" and the second menu should be set to "8". Then aim the PDA at the camera and press the "power" button on the PDA display. It should then activate the camera. If it doesn't, check that the remote trigger is still displayed in the top display, as it will revert to single shot or continuous after a certian amount of time.

Hope this helps.

Thx, that works, it's bit hit and miss though.

Oh well better than nothing

Thx again
