Here is an experiment which I was very delighted with the result.

Using a bare A80 I photographed the sky (which was not 100% clear) to observe some constellation that my eye could not arrive. I shot the photo using ISO400 (noise does not effect me), 2.8 aperture, 15sec exposure and B&W setting. When I came home I noted that there was delphinus in the photo with all the faint stars picked by the camera

I composed an illustration of the photo (cropped and shifted slight its gamma) and an illustration of the constellation of delphinus (rotated to be in par with the photo) I was really pleased by the results!

look below

With the naked eye only 4 stars of delphinus could be seen

This is a great capture, Stephen. Congratulations. It is often difficult to see the entire "Cross of Jesus".
You did good!

BTW, I also enjoy the website you are building on the wild plants of Malta. It is a good thing to have a passion about something, and also to save them for posterity.

One curious thing - I never heard about the constellation named "Cross of Jesus" !! It is mabe a synonym .

No, I don't think a synonym.
See http://www.winshop.com.au/annew/Delphinus.html

As with most constelleations, there have been many associations over the centuries and in different parts of the world.

Keep up the good work.
