Defective Iomega Photoshow

I have nearly 600MB in CF Cards. I seldom use them all up. I did buy the Iomega Photoshow to do a TV presentation with low res JPG images.

Two video/audio technicians used 3 TVs and 2 VCRs and still were NOT able to launch the slide show.

Iomega Tech support suggested to reformat the zip disk to resolve this issue.

I did. Still does not work. Has anyone else had problems with this?

I have fotoshow and it works perfectly. what is the method you use to start the slide show? Are you using the remote, the only way to initiate the slide show?

Hi Gail:

I am pretty good with computers but I cannot get any video.

I had two technicians try to hook it up and they also failed.

Basically, I am connecting the RCA (yellow & white) to the VCR Video input (yellow) and Audio Input (white). Select the Aux channel (#3 in my area) Other devices (Canon G1) works well.

I insert the zip disk, turn it on (with remote) and since no image appears, I press the Slide Show button and press GO. I hear the drive moving but all I get is a blank screen.

I downloaded an update file from the Iomega site but still no picture on the TV. My main use for this product is to download CF cards to the zip disks and to have a USB zip drive (to replace an ancient parallel), but the TV show is Photoshow main ingredient and it should work.

One thought, you didn't say whether you transferred any pictures to the zip drive. Depending on how much is transferred, it takes quite a bit of time for the pictures to load and for fotoshow to do whatever it doesn.

It really is a nice machine. The photo editing software is simple but effective. I also use it as a zip drive with my computer. You can not copy pictures to it if you have it connected via the usb port to a computer. You have to unplug it first before it works.

Did you try to contact iomega for assistance? They have a toll free number which is listed in the manual. Good luck.

You mean you have the TV itself set to channel 3 (if it's going through the cable) and the channel on the VCR set to AUX or Line.

On mine (VCR) it's L1 or L2, depending on which input I use. If I use the video input on my TV, it's video1, video2, or video3.

Two things you may wish to consider if you have not:

Did you save your slide images as JPEG File Interchage Format?

Did you create an album and move the slides in to it?

I have the FotoShow and have no problems.

I have a fotoshow as well, and the way you describe your problem sounds exactly what I did. It appears from your description that you are connecting the cabling ok. However, in your next paragraph you state that " your insert the zip disk, then turn it on with the remote". Try connecting the cables, turn on the fotoshow, using the remote and the software will start to load on your TV, then insert the zip disk. Hope I was of some help

Just as a review:

1. Attatch your power and video cables.

2. Switch the TV to the correct Video input - it should have a black screen (at least mine does)

3. Press the POWER button on your remote. Your screen should change colour and have a Fotoshow symbol while the firmware starts up. Also the RED power button on the front of the Fotoshow unit shold be on.

If the RED power button does not go on, replace the batteries in your remote.

I know this is very basic, but it's always good to start there.
