Welp.....finally decided I'm switching :o<

1. clearly people care, otherwise they wouldn't respond! LOL!! Got to love the post that says "no one cares" - yet they post anyway. Too funny.

2. To that person who said that he got some customers with his 4mp camera and that they are ignorant. It is true that there are a lot of people who aren't as concerned about quality. You can still make a good living serving them.

3. When you see the specs on the new 1Ds M2, you will be glad that you invested in Canon glass.

good luck and happy shooting.
After my fiance' told me all about the new Canon D20 I gave it some
thought and will be selling my D1x and all my lenses/accessories
and will be switching to Canon. He switched from Nikon to Canon
earlier this year after he had problems with his D100. I told him
he went to the dark side but now after seeing what Canon is coming
out with I see how behind Nikon is. I will sell the D1x, set the
money aside and use the D100 with my lenses till the 20d comes out
then I'll sell all my lenses at that point. I've been a Nikon user
since I first started photography in 1987 and feel a bit like a
traitor but Nikon needs to get up to snuff. I'm sorry to
switch....sorta :(

Well I thought everyone would want to know I switched as well...

I am now using Crest toothpaste instead of Colgate. My friends all switched to Crest and I feel their teeth are much brighter. Plus the squeeze tube has a new improved cap and puts them way a head of Colgates screw top.

By the way I am thinking about changing underwear, what is everyone else wearing. Boxers or Briefs ?

There seems to be a lot of bitter folks around (on all the different forums) just try and ignore them and concentrate on photography, I am sure you'll enjoy your new equipment, Canon isn't perfect (I have 10D) but they make good products.

The low noise is what I love about my 10D, especially at higher ISO's, its one of the best positive things I think about the Canon DSLR's.

For wide angle, I recommend the 17-40 F4L, its a really sharp lens, even wide open and is a joy to use.

Oh great, someone who is a "surgeon" on their profile, lectures someone who is actually making pictures and, hopefully, making lots of dough.

I hope you don't feel guilty Michelle. I've never met a Canon user who was unhappy switching to "The System".

I shoot Nikon(d2h, d1x, d100) and was always determined to stay on this side of the fence. It's getting harder to justify. Photography is a business, not just a hobby. When the camera is the fulcrum, the choice is Canon.

When the system is the fulcrum, the choice is Canon. I've lost faith with the d2h.

By the way, the Nikon base will accuse you of all things:

1) It's really the eye behind the viewfinder.

2) 4mpx is plenty. I made 40x50(insert inches or feet) prints that look gorgeous. 4mpx=8=11mpx. Honest.

3) You're an amateur at exposure. That's why you don't get the results you're looking for.
4) I got great stuff from my F2,....
5) Lack of proper technique.
6) If you don't like Canon, why don't you just switch...
7) You're a mediocre photographer who feels a switch will solve your problems.

They'll never address the real problem.

and so on...

The last entity they'll blame is the company.
I guess I was thinking too much of people.I've seen other posts
about people pondering switching also.

I didnt think I would get stones cast at me. Its just a camera for
petes sake. I didnt say anything bad about Nikon and in fact said
how much I've loved my Nikon. Sorry I posted this at all as it was
not planned to make people upset.

So tell me why it is that I shouldnt buy the Canon? If someone can
give me some legitimate reasons I'll reconsider.
Michelle, I don't think anyone here cares WHAT kind of camera you
use. And I don't think anyone cares if you switch or not.

But many of us are sick to death of these "Nikon is behind wah wah
wah" posts such as yours....

"..........I told him he went to the dark side but now after seeing

I suspect that the negative reaction you're encountering is from
people who think your rationalization is just a poorly reasoned
steaming pile of ....whatever. Why don't you just say "My boyfried
uses Canon so I'm switching too". Better yet, why don't you just go
away quietly?

I think you intended to respond to someone else. Chris is probably bewildered.

BTW, nothing wrong with surgeons. They're certainly not real doctors by any stretch of the imagination, but some of my best friends are sugreons. (Maybe we should avoid this approach altogether, eh?)

All these people who announce they are getting rid of their Nikon and go to Canon sound like those who stand on a ledge to jump, but want someone to talk them out of it.

We have a radio station here in Tampa that has a pool for the number of people who jump off the Skyway bridge in a year.

Some people are just never happy, want a little attention, and that's all there is to it.

Can you keepe me at the top of the list for the 50-500? I'd be interested in looking into that more for the right price.

Thanks,

Chip-

PS: Sounds like you're making the right choice.

I'm a 'break-even' photographer.

I couldn't give you one reason why you should stay with Nikon.

However, I am curious as to why you went and broadcasted this news of the switch?

What were you expecting as a response?

Or are you simply frustrated with Nikon's absence of a new release and venting a little?

I am not trying to be mean, just want to understand why you posted your intent to switch.

Marv

briefs. They go along with the current grunge theme with the mud washed jeans and all. The skidmarks are already stained in for you on the dingy yellow backround. The new packaging is scratch and sniff by the way.

Bye Michelle

Michelle

There is noting wrong in your post. But I think its obvious to you
by now that you should have posted this on the canon forums. I
suspect you'd get a much warmer reception.
Alex,

I'm not sure you can expect any kind of "reception" here when one is announcing they are LEAVING - sort of belies the term. :)

Joe

That is where you went wrong.

1. clearly people care, otherwise they wouldn't respond! LOL!!
Got to love the post that says "no one cares" - yet they post
anyway. Too funny.
What's funnier is how you just join the forum recently as "20D" and are in a NIKON forum defending Canon. What a biased gear geek. Get a life.
2. To that person who said that he got some customers with his 4mp
camera and that they are ignorant. It is true that there are a lot

Most people aren't concerned with quality - that's why Sears can sell portraits. My sarcasm was clear and if you were a mature individual you'd admit that a D2H is more than capable of producing stellar prints at 13x19. BTW, where can I see your work?
3. When you see the specs on the new 1Ds M2, you will be glad that
you invested in Canon glass.
Yeah, we should all invest in a camera system based on an unreleased top model that will be owned by significantly less than 1% of all photographers. LOL!!!
good luck and happy shooting.
Now that's where we can agree. I too wish here luck. As for you . . .

Joe

What an embarrassing fraud. You pretend to own Nikon in hopes that your bashing will be more credible. What a loser. I'll let you in on a little secret - no one respects you so keep embarrassing yourself.

Why do you hang around these forum doing nothing but puting down Nikon. If you liek Canon get one and go over there. I haven't read anything of any value comming from you. Your James McPeak personality is a little better I think. Get a life.

My fiancé' got a D70 a couple of months ago. She used an old (but good) Pentax film system before that. (Nothing could be used on a modern DSLR). Although in principle I have no quips with folks buying Canon, it wouldn't be the best situation for equipment reuse. Bottom line, both of you owning the same system (Nikon, Canon, ..) would be the best way to get the most of your camera equipment purchasing dollar. So tell the bloke to come to his senses and go black. ;-)Michelle

that had your name all over it.

It was all about some guy in green tights, he had a magic wand that he used to wave about, I think he's had hold of that thing a bit long.

Pleas use your wand and dissapear for us will ya, I'll even say bad things about Nikon if you do.

don't you get sick of being the butt of people jokes?

Man, give it a rest, I'm realy concerned for your health, you know ya can't shoot that Canon if you're dead

We'll be ok here, we'll work it out one day that Nikon is no good, thanks for your efforts in educating us, we really do apreciate it.

Now off you pop

of course, if you feel like Nikon can't give you what you need you must look where you believe you can find it. Absolutely.
that's what I did when I left Canon for kodak :)

Digital is different than film for photographers, it's more like you are linked to the camera moods. Ive never felt completely comfortable with Canon: it did give me spectacular captures but ive never been completely happy right after pressing the shutter. Im in love with my Nikon camera, somehow I know that it will bring me exactly what I want. Kodak is a different animal (there is a love/hate thing going on right now and both are quite intense) but still is some sort of feeling. With Canon it's like Im not in charge or something like that.
It's a matter of feelings ... I can't explain any better than that

best of luck to you
:)

Mark
