nikkor 80-200mm f/2.8ed vs 70-200mmf/2.8ed

Which one of these lenses would be best for indoor fast action sport. The lighting would be like a basketball court. I have a new D70 and would like to take photos for my daughter's jump rope club, I also want to take crisp clear protraits and outdoor football shots.

If $$$ is not an issue get the 70-200VR. I bought the 80-200 2.8 last month but would have liked the 70-200VR if I had the $$$ to spend.
