Hi Mike,

Good pictures as usual. I really like #5 and #6. I will be happy if I can do half as well when my paying job comes up in October. I did notice that the water doesn't look quite as good as your previous pictures. It seems less blue, less saturated for some reason. Perhaps a different time of day or perhaps overcast??

I bet you were a hit with your swim club over the last season and I hope you made some money in doing this. You certainly deserve it.

Thansk and I am sure your shots will be outstanding,

As far as the saturation of the water goes this meet was all day from 10:00 aM till 4:00 so it was shot during the worst light, the pool it self wasnt as blue as some of the others, a lot of the kids painted themsleves for these races and it washed of in the pool troo so it looked cloudy, but boy was it a fast pool 16 records set. Again thanks for looking

Mike:

I've been admiring your swimming shots all summer. I have two kids that swim and like you take pictures during the meets - it beats holding a stop watch. We had our championship meet with 15 teams last weekend. Two long days but lots of fun. I'm curious as to whether you use a circular polarizer. I use one when there is enough light and like the ability to knock some of the reflections off the water. Which teleconverter did you use - the 1.4x or 2x? Here are a few I've snapped over the summer, all with D-100 and 70-200 VR.

8 year old who set the local league age group record this year

Dual meet breast stroke

Dual meet freestyle

Championship meet breast stroke - love that hair! Circular polarizing filter used.

Awards ceremony for championship meet breast stroke finals. This was shot at f5.6, 1/160 @ 200 mm. I took two or three pics and realized at that shutter speed and zoom I might have problems. I switched the VR on for the rest and what a difference it made. The first shots I took weren't nearly as sharp as those with the VR. I love this lens.

I look forward to seeing more of your swimming pics next summer.

Thansk for looking and that is a awesome collection you go there, shooting swimming sure is a lot of fun, I havent used polarizers I seem to get some good colors without it so I like the higher shutter speeds. This last meet I shot with the 2.0 convertor on the 70-200 I was very happy with the sharpness, and hope to use this combo for some birding on my vacation.
Thanks again for looking.
