Hello folks,

Need storage for my next vacaction. Has somebody experience with this x-drive ? Think it is better than buying cf card 2 mb for almost the same price. Thank in advance for your advise.

I've been using one for 2 months and I'm pleased with it. The things that I'd suggest they change are;

1) The formatting can be a real pain, even with the included software. Preformatting would only take a minute on their end.
2) They don't include a 12VDC power cord.

3) The little case can't realistically hold anything else or you'll find that even slight pressure on the outside will switch the unit on. The on/off switch is interesting because it also indicates the battery status via LEDs but not very well thought out IMO.

None of these things detract from the fact that the x-drive can store as much as 80 of my 512mb xD cards on it for less money than 2 of the cards would cost. The USB 2.0 support is excellent and the transfer speeds from x-drive to desktop are awesome.

All-in-all I'd recommend the unit.

Mine came preformatted and I was glad. I only had XP and it said it couldn't be formatted under XP!

Anyway only real downside is mediocre battery life.

There is a newer product out now by Vosonic that looks similar but I'm not sure what the differences are. Specs are similar and look is a tad more stylish.

Thanks for your input !
Infact, the Vosonic is more stylish. And I found it for 50 euro less.

The Vosonic has no MP3 player. What I do not need. And to read xp cards the Vosonic requires a cf-adapter.
Would like to know about experience.
Will submit my question to Storage + Media forum.

Actually Vosonic is the manufacturer of X drive Pro as well as some other portable drives. The new model is XDRIVE VP3310 and the X Drive Pro is VP300.

Mine is the X-Drive Pro VP300 and it reads xD cards without an adapter. The battery life isn't an issue for me as I use a 12VDC adapter anyway, but the batteries should last about 2 hours total.
