Using Yamaha remote controller

Played with the remote and used the setup in this link:

http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1034&message=9433011 . There's also a thread somewhere showing a reflector from scoth metal tape.

Since I now bought a very cheap one, I'm gonna take the led out and attach it to a wire. than I can put just the led in front of the sensor, and use the remote as a handheld release. I still have plans to build a dedicated remote using a single pic microcontroller ... but hey: it's summer, got to leave something for the winter.
it does?
a lot of guys advertize their stuff their .. don't mean to advert
but just as a remark
As for this thread, thx for the tip. I just had an extra remote
convieniently lying around (Philips) and it worked with the
aforementioned code 0038. Now if I only could a smaller one...

btw. tested the remote outside, and the range seems to around 8
meters. Also for landscape shooting purposes, I too might need to
make some construction to get the remote work from behind of the
camera. Maybe some bent, thin metal plate attached between the
camera and the tripod plate? Ideas anyone?

I have a Sanyo TV - the remote doesn't work !

My HP-IPAQ Nevo - none of the Sanyo codes work !

Other remotes with Sanyo codes - nothing works !

Don't know what to try next. Learning remotes don't help because
you first need something that does work.
Just managed to find appropriate mfg code for the programmable rc
that came with Yamaha AV receiver RX-V630RDS in order to trigger
D70 (rc model RAV241)! Code number is 1691 (one of the few Sanyo TV
codes). After programming you can use any of the eight buttons: all
odd program numbers, +TV volume, -TV channel and TV input. It is
best to set it on channel "A" that "...sets the r.c. to operate
other component without changing receiver's input source...". I'm
not sure wheter this code is Yamaha's own numbering, or something
universally accepted.
This RC is rather large to carry arround, but is quite OK to use at
home!
Happy triggering,
Miljenko

Just to let other Philips Pronto owners know that you can program the D70 in to your pronto. I created a screen with a simple shutter release icon as well as a second screen with a delay option from 5 - 60 seconds. Works great.

FYI,

I just got a Zenith ZN311 universal clicker from K-Mart. Programmed it for the D70 - the code is SANYO VCR and after going through about six or seven codes I found the the that works with the D70. To activate the D70, press the 'power' button on the clicker.

It's about 1,5 hours since I'm experimenting with Philips PM725S remote control and can't find right combination yet.
It's very frustrating... :((
Any suggestions?

I have the YAMAHA RXV-630 with remote control RAV240, and I tried the Sanyo codes, with no luck. If anyone else has any success using this remote, could you please post it here so I can then use it.

Thanks,
John

I don't know how much time it took you to chase down the code but
thanks for the tip!

Works with my Dish Network (silver model) remote control. Use TV
code 609 and the 7 button to activate. BTW, I was able to shoot
from behind the D70 by aiming the remote at a wall 20 feet in front
of the camera - the IR beam bounces off the wall and is strong
enough to get back to the camera to activate it. I've also had
limited success by setting up a mirror at a strategic location in
front of the camera if outdoors - you just have to align the mirror
until you can see the reflection of the camera from where you are
pointing the remote.

I've got a very tiny (2"x3") learning remote I'm going to dig out
of storage and I'm going to store this code in it's memory - now I
will have a very small remote I can pack and carry in my camera bag.

Sadly most of our American forum friends will be asleep now, and as they dominate our numbers, I suggest you wait about 16 hours from now, and then 'bump' this post back so we can have one of our clever American friends help us.

Hopes this helps. Good luck.. If it dosen't work get a Pronto ;-)

Found the code for my multi-remote. The remote is a One For All 6 (URC-7562). See pic below.

As some other it was the code for Sanyo TV that worked. The code is 0011. Keypad-buttons activates the camera. So if there is anyone else out there with the same remote, they dont have to look through all the codes. :)

Now I just need to find a little bit smaller remote that I can bring in my camerabag. If someone knows a small cheap remote that works with the D70 (except Nikon orig ofcourse), please let me know.

Have a nice day!

Hello John,

I decided to try the Zenith ZN311 only because it was the cheapest one I can find - $7.99 USD and the store (K-Mart) manager said that if it didn't work, I can return it for a full refund.

I made this decision based on two things: 1) the ML-L3 is NEVER in stock and 2) the ML-L3 uses a very expensive lithium button cell. My experience has alway shown that these don't last too long. The batteries in my TV clicker last at least two or more years and I use my TV daily and the clicker is constantly being utilized.

Size and price are not a consideration as the ML-L3 costs only around $17-18 USD IF YOU CAN FIND ONE.

Fortunately for me and K-Mart, the ZN311 WORKED and very well indeed. I can even bounce the IR from walls and it will still trip the shutter on the D70.

I hope this additional info helps.

Yesterday I found a working code for my "One For All" universalremotecontrol (see earlier reply). But since its pretty big I today went looking for a small remote that could work, and I found one.

At Teknikmagasinet (Trollhättan, Sweden) they had a small remote (see below, only 5.5cm) that works perfect perfectly. Only cost me 149 SEK. The code is 11134 for this one.

Just a tip from me!

Had an extra RCA Dish Network universal remote control. Code used was 609 (Sanyo TV). Number 7 on the keypad triggers the shuuter. This is the only key that actually works in TV mode. Bulky, yes. Until we get the ml-l3 available this will work for me. I was also able to trigger the shutter from behind the camera.

I liked a post above with the keychain-type remote. I could not locate anything similar in the stores around.
