AAA Camera Customer No-Service

The photo mags ARE the loser stores! Just look at the low level of quality found in most of those stupid mags. They don't care if the readers get ripped off. They only care that the advertisers pay the bills. TV is the same.

Those magazines exist for one reason; to advertise. Banner ads, magazine ads. They are all the same.

How did that saying go?? oh yeah:

"if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is."

John Riedy, you should definately dispute the charges with your card co.

Good luck.

Good mail order:

Samy's - B&H - Camera World of Oregon

Imagine that, threatening you... Hey, have you posted these same
comments over at http://www.photo.net? If you haven't done so I'd suggest
you do.

An update on my AAA camera debacle:

Shortly after I cancelled my order I received a phone call from
AAA. "Hello, Mr. Riedy, good news. We tracked down your lens and
it will be delivered tommorrow." Bad news, I'm on a plane at 7am
to Texas to shoot the wedding. "Oh, well, we'll send it to you in
Texas." Ahhh, yeah. Thanks, but no thanks. After all of this, I
called Simons's Camera here in LA and his price is a whopping $10
over what I was going to pay at AAA. I'll pay that everyday and
twice on Sunday for a little piece of mind (even with sales tax!).
My only question now is will AAA actually refund my credit card,
which, by the way, they charged the same day I placed the order
(even though it wasn't in stock). Ugh.

John

That would be great! I think pictures would be a great benefit to everyone. Inside and outside and post them here. Then we can decide on our own. We will even let AAA coment if they like....

Rich
Next time I past by their shop, i will take a picture of them....
once u see them, you will understand why you will/shouldnever shop
there. They pretend to operate like B&H on the phone and even has
a Jewish hour to match it, but they're more qualify as repoman!

I was ripped off by these clowns 11 years ago on some Canon equipment. Back then there wasn't an easy was for justice! I'M LOVING THIS!!!!
Hey, AAA...
GOT YA BACK FELLA'S ;-}}

I, too, am due a refund from AAA camera, in excess of $1,500.00, for merchandize which they accepted on return, but then would not credit the purchase price or any part thereof to my VISA accountt. I filed a dispute with VISA (which is still pending) and contacted Popular Photography. The latter told me that they no longer accept AAA's ads. (They stopped doing so 3 months prior to my purchase) Pop Photo also said that Cambridge is the same company, and Pop Photo cut Cambridge as well. So I am willing to believe that if a company is as bad as AAA, and THEY ARE BAD (check w/ the New York Better Business Bureau along with others) Pop Photowill cease taking their ads.
They have cheated so many people by refusing or delaying legitimate refunds. And I know of 2 cases, so I am willing to believe there is a pattern, where they charged a customer a higher price by ERRONEOUSLY claiming that there were 2 versions of the said item, and the price they advertised" was for the inferior version so that if the customer wanted the "better" version he/she had to pay a higher price than that advertized.

PS As far as any adverse reports on this and other internet sites, they deserve whatever they get! And I hope that they read my post as well!

IMHO this is what happens sometimes when you try to go for the
cheapest price rather than getting a good deal with well known
vendors. I have been saying this a couple times here but everyone
has been saying I am spending too much. Beleive me I have
experienced similar problerms with other products by buying for the
lowest price I can find. You get what you pay for.If someone offers
the cheapest price on the market theres usually a reason and often
that reason is not good.
After they ripped me off, I checked with Canon and found out that they are not a Canon Dealer! Should we speculate as to why not? It would be interesting to know for which other major photography companies they are not legit dealers!

Today's Update:

I sent in my paperwork to Visa today disputing the charge. Spoke to Visa customer service and still no refund.

I will update every day, just to keep this post at the top of the forum. They think they can shut me up by threatening me. They're messing with the wrong guy. I've got WAY too much free time to let this go. Till tommorrow.

John

I wonder what would happen if your occupation was a Lawyer????

Right on!!!! If it saves one person from getting burned it is so worth it. I got ripped off by cambridge 10 years ago with the line then"the 50mm is not an af lens you ll need an af lens for that camera body". Sounds similiar to the plastic mount/metal mount line. So I ended up paying 3x the price for a 50mm lens.
live and learn samy b

ps. keep this one going we want our fellow humans spared from these rip off artists.

After reading all this, I'm wondering why we don't have a specific Forum for these types of complaints. Let's put some pressure on dpreview.com to set us up this way. Let's get rid of these jerks, not only on this forum but on all of them. Too many people are still attracted by the "lowest price".

STILL no credit to my Visa. Come on AAA, I know you're reading this. There's only one way to make me drop this thread. Until then, "AAA Camera Customer No-Service" stays right at the top of this forum. It's your choice.

Thanks John for posting all this. I was considering dealing with AAA because of the attractive prices. Glad I did not and I have removed them from my list of Camera Dealers. I hope this works out for you. At least you are keeping others from getting burned. I will never deal with them after reading all this. The extra $60 for a metal mount was all I needed to hear.

John,

You need to join Pre-Paid Legal and let them fight the battle....they would LOVE to get a hold of this case! For a little $26.00 a month, they will handle all your problems! This goes nation wide and even into Canada!

It looks like it is true. Cambridge and AAA have practically the same address! The numbers are so close that they must be in the same building. It's probably one guy with two phones! Or one family running two operations in the same building. I'm still waiting for someone to post some pictures of this "business". Surely someone who lives in NY city could stop by and give us the inside scoop....

It's interesting that Cambridge has the D30 for $2649 and AAA has it listed for 2499. Anybody here have the courage to try to buy it for that price? That should be an experience worthy of quite a thread!

And get this, they claim to have been in business for 40 years for Cambridge and 24 for AAA. Amazing, if its true!
