I know China is much in the news lately... Anyway, I made a trip to Yunan Province in southwestern China, where TV is a luxury and clean flushable toilets are a rarity. I'd like to share some of those images to all.

Well Dave, I had the Oly first, then I saw a good offer on the Casio with a 340Mb microdrive thrown in, and I thought, why not, that would let me leave my laptop at home! But having read up more about microdrives, I thought I should bring the Oly with a 'single' 64Mb card as a backup! The only other storage I brought in addition to the microdrive was the 8Mb card that came with the camera.

To cut a long story short, someone dropped my Casio from about 4 feet high, during the beginning of my trip, and I had to say bye bye to the microdrive, it started giving a siren like sound and stopped working! Managed to squeeze 150+ pictures to the Oly, shooting at Normal mode, and 11 pictures to the Casio with the factory 8Mb card, shooting at Economy! Wished I hadn't brought a backup, maybe this wouldn't have happened!

The first image, the old woman was suffering from a dry eye ailment, causing her eyes to tear frequently. She was not upset at anything when I took her photo! She was 84 years old and otherwise in good health.

Hi CJ,

Both of these are not only beautiful, they are also very moving. Not to mention something that Western eyes may not see except through your camera.

I haven't read through the responses in this thread, but I bet people here would like to see more from you. I'd certainly like to see more from you.

Actually the casio is a very wonderful camera

I think Sharon simply liked the first picture better! (the casio would have been the camera of choice to take the picture, had the microdrive survived the fall...)
