A very good friend of mine has just upgraded his motor yacht, this is his latest editition, for those that are interested this is a LeClerq 82, manufactured right here in Seattle. Absoloutley gorgesous, I can't wait for Seafair this year.

for those of you who may think I am some organic, broke, socialist perhaps you need to rethink your ideas of me. It's ok to have very liberal ideas and wealth at the same time.

It makes it easier to tell other people how they should live. What is that boat doing to our poor water and air? Or does pollution just mater when conservatives do it?

hey Mr. Mike just lighten up a bit. Somethings are not always the way they seem. I wonder what in the heck you are so dang bitter about. Better you than me I guess. Nope, not his butler. I am actually disabled due to MS and no longer able to work :-( at my formal profession. Now photography along with a pretty nice retirement keep things moving along in a positive direction.

Yachts don't make you happy ...even in Seattle ...but taking photos of Yachts can make you happy :-)

Does this mean you'll be out there catching the boats coming out of turn two and flying down the back straight? To say nothing of trying to catch the Blue Angels nose to nose in the elusive opposing flyby. With that big a boat it'd be easy to set up a tripod and long lens if you had one. I tried to rent a telephoto from Glazers two months ago but they were already reserved. I'd ask you to tell your friend I'd be the butler for the day if I could bring my camera but....I'm going to be wandering around the pits taking shots.

With Budweiser pulling their sponsorship I'm worried this might be the end of Unlimited Hydros as we know it. I don't want to miss it. The whole scene in the pits is very intimate insanity and a blast to watch.

I hope you get to go out and can post some shots afterward. I sure hope to get some to post myself.

In other words, you are a limousin liberal.

But a motor yacht? That's tacky. Like arriving at a benefit for Earth First in a Cadillac.

yeah, I tried to reserve Glazers 600mm for the weekend as well. Luckily, I had prereserved a 300mm for everyweekend during July and August. So, I guess that is what I will have to shoot with. I also have an opportunity to be in the pits as I know one of the boat owners that is very active in vintage hydro restoration. As of now I am not really sure exactly where I am going to be. I totally agree with you that this may be the last of something that has been so great for a long time. I'm just hoping that another sponsor steps it up so things continue. You might see me around the shore line on thursday or friday as well. If you care to know what I look like there is a pic of me at http://www.photosig.com/go/users/view?id=28187 only difference is that now I am a bit thinner and my hair is blonde/white/grey I think you get the idea that I am a bit of a freak since not working in the corporate world any longer. Hope I see ya out there.

I look forward to catching you out there. If I get real lucky I'll get a shot of you chimpin' your 1D. I'll only be there Sunday though. Our youngest has a soccer tournament and I'll be shooting that Fri., Sat. but I already warned them that Sun. is mine even if they make it to the finals.

If you find yourself in the pits Sunday, I always try to make the award ceremony under the announcers tower after each heat. It's great to catch the interplay of the owners and drivers that often happens around there. Also when/if they do draws for lane choice. Maybe you'll catch me first ( http://www.pbase.com/cbeyond/profile ; ). Though I cut off my long ponytail back in '77, the freak in me has never died so I'm happy to hear you're letting your freak flag fly as the song said.

This is my first year with a digital SLR so I'm really looking forward to it. Even though I don't have any L glass yet, I'm sure learning a lot and improving my shooting skills when I don't have the constraint of film/processing cost.

You would do well to follow your own advice; lighten up & things aren't always what they seem. You don't know me, I don't know you.

I'm not bitter, just responding to your bitter posts – maybe you were having a bad day?

Have a good time on your super rich friend's boat, It's the weekend and I'll be doing my volunteer community out reach work.

Liberal causes are not supposed to effect the elite liberals – or their cling ons. Kind of like when Barbara Steiesand was telling "people" to save energy by hanging their laundry outside to dry!!!

Not to mention all the foreign oil it must consume- sort of like
owning 10 SUV's!!!!!

Just an FYI, I would have preferred to send you an email on this but I don't see one listed. Anyways, I was at glazers this morning picking up some equipment for the weekend. They have a 600mm f4 available for rental on Wednesday and Thursday if your interested in using some really large glass for the time trials. It is the non IS version so you'd need a pretty burly tripod or monopod. Just that I would pass that along to you.
