Do you take your camera everywhere?

I work as a night shift taxi driver. I have a collection of interesting photos, many of which are not suitable for posting on this forum.

Since i always work mights, I have many views of the city at night, as I don't often get to see much daylight. I always find something which catches my eye.

10D is a little big to bring with me everywhere I go. so most of my random snaps are taken with my Toshiba VM4050 video phone :)

one of these days I'll probably break down and buy a P&S. But for now all my photo expeditions will be planned out.

If you get P&S get cannon PowerShot S400/500. It has very good quality and extremely slim. I carry mine in the packet all the time for some quick shots like this:

When I buy a P&S it will definently be a canon :) I actually just bought a Powershot A75 for a family member and I had a chance to play around with it a little. Good camera, and relativly cheap.

Pretty much, whenever I leave the house it gets to ride shotgun in the car. My wife isn't too happy about having to share her space but I'll be DA*ned if I'll put the camera in the back seat. ;-)

even if they aren't suitable to display here, you could post a link to an online gallery somewhere else. I'd love to see your pictures as I'm guessing the views from a late night taxi driver are something you don't get to see every day.

yeah?

I've taken it with me daily from morning till night, day in and day out. Mostly because I'm still learning it and if I have some available time and I'm away from the house, I'd like to use it. This has eliminated the "if I only had my camera" phrase that I seemed to say quite often. Great opportunities will present themselves and you'll be ready. It also gives you a great reason to Practice Mutha Practice.

I always wind up kicking myself because there was something really interesting to shoot that I missed.

However there is a downside to bringing your camera everywhere... Not too long ago I stopped for a bit ot wat with my friend at a Panera Bread... they had outdoor seating so that's where we sat.

When we were done we left and drove about 30mins to our destination (where I was going to take pictures)... Upon getting there, I realized. OH S#&T! My camera isn't in the car?!?! I must've left the bag hanging on the back of my chair at Panera.

We called them up immediately to have someone go check the seating area to see if it was still there. After a tense 2 minutes of waiting on the line, the dude comes back and says "Um... yeah there's a camera bag there, but it's empty."

long pregnant pause

He then's bursts out laughing and says... "Man! I'm just kidding... Yeah, we have it... I'll put it in the safe until you get here."

Talk about having a near heart attack.
I'll never be that careless again.

I take "a camera" everywhere I go, but not the Rebel D or any of my other DSLR's. They are just too damn big and heavy. I take a pocket camera. My latest is the Konica Minolta G500.
