Backyard wildlife - pic

That is awesome!! Quite a rack, if I may be so bold.

Not sure if its the light, but it seems a tad over sharpened. Lambast me if I'm wrong. Where are you to get such a picture in your back yard? Put some feed out and snap away!
I can walk in the woods for days and not catch a sight like this,
then just a few feet from the back porch...

From bugs to bears - I'll bet lots of you have similar shots. Lets
see um.

Thank you. It was only sharpened lightly; however the light was fairly extreem with dark shadows and bright sun. I don't remember exactly what I did to this one but I did use a lot of shadow and highlight adjustments during that session.
All the dead grass ought to be a giveaway - this is in California

Unfortunately, they eat my apricots. They are able to climb higher than my ladder goes, so they get all the good ones. :-(

(No, I'm not a good photographer ... just one lucky enough to own the 100-400L and so able to "shoot" squirrels at 50 feet! :-)

Loved the deer - won't see one of those in my backyard.

I do get some birds though (uncropped):

With that nose, you must have named him "Jimmy" - after Durante.
Steve
That happens to be my neighbors husband's name, Jimmy. LOL!!!

Peter, sorry to hear they are eating your natural fruit. They tend to eat just about anything. Nice shot, I can certainly see your squirrel is female.

It does make it handy for those times when a dedicated photo expedition isn't in the cards. We go through about 20-30 lbs of sunflower seed a week, between the birds, the squirrels, and the other assorted critters.

It also helps to back on a finger of woods that extends into the holdings of the UT Arboretum. :)

Wow Joe,
You have created a wonderful backyard, it attracts quite a range of
wildlife. It looks like you don't have to go far to capture your
wildlife photos. Really nice.

I have never seen a deer in the wild. You are so fortunate to have this sight in your backyard!

Here are some of my backyard critters. More common than yours :-)

The squirrel, I have to admit, came from my dad's backyard...
