How does the Cannon hold up to clogged jets? I've had bad results
from epson's constantly clogging up the print heads, that I simply
won't buy them anymore. I live in Hawaii where it's somewhat hot
and very humid all year long. I've had great luck with HP, but
wouldn't mind trying a Cannon if it doesn't clog on me.
I bought a Canon s820 two years ago. I refill the seperate ink tanks when needed, and have printed lots of full page images with it. No problems at all - with either refilling the ink tanks or the print head clogging. And I live in the Mohave Desert, where it gets very hot and dry during the summer months.
My prior printer was an Epson, and aside from the hassle of getting a decent color match from it, the printhead was constantly clogging up - even with factory ink carts.
Since switching to Canon, printing has been a real "piece of cake" to get a perfect color match and photo lab quality prints. Also, due to the seperate ink tank system, it is very easy and economical to refill rather than have to spend big bucks on OEM ink carts.
I recently bought a Canon i950, which uses the same ink tank system, but doubles the printed resolution of the s820. This printer's output quality is incredible. Even under a lighted medical magnifier, I cannot see a dot pattern. The colors appear to be a continous solid color. Every bit as good (or better) than anything I have ever had printed at a color lab.
The current version of this printer is the i960, which can be found in the US for around $160, and it even has a $30 rebate on it. You really can't do any better than this unless you spend 2 or 3 times the price...
