I think I'd have to put it on a tripod to do that.... I mean, to have a hand free to do the pushing. I will try it.
I believe most were past 105, as I was using the 70-200 and the 100-400....

and provided the 550 acts like the 420, you can avoid over-lighting

my 420EX it's done by pushing the tilt lock at the back of the
flash. When I do so, the head zooms at 105mm as long as I press the
lock button. You get a "spotlight" effect, throwing no light on the
edges...
could you try it on the 550 and tell me? how cool, if it works...
but of course if all your Kerry pics were done past 105mm, no
regrets.
