... these are E-10 +Tcon-300 shots!

Hello all,

I'm just astonished and perplex ...
I did a shooting this afternoon in "my backyarden" :-)
There's a hughe railway emplacement with a bridge over it.
A little sunshine and the Tcon-300 mounted.
Unbelievable what a result ...
The new photos can be found in the E-10 railway album on Belgium Digital.

Keep up the great work.

Superb shots Jaja. It goes to show that there probably is a learning curve with this lens. With each new series from you, they get better and better. Were these handheld? If they were, they are REALLY impressive (as is the photographer's steady hand!)
Peter

Hello Peter,

Thanks.
You're right about a learning curve. That's with all new equipment ...
But I keep astonished about the quality of the lens itself.

All shots were handheld, struggeling against a strong wind on top of the bridge. But once found a good way of dealing "stable" with the Tcon-300, it's rather easy to handle it.

Jaja,

Impressive as always bud. :o)

Those shots would be a model railroader's dream! The detail is amazing. Can't wait to really get out with mine as well and get to clicking!

Vance.

Jaja, as usual, you turn out the most fascinating pictures. I've a question for you. My tcon-300 is here in town, just missed the UPS driver last night. All of you speak of the problem with motion with the 300, and this is going to sound wierd, would a rifle stock with a 1/4"x20tpi mount (camera mount) on top of it work well for stabilizing shots? It would probably get you questioned (alot) but I'm thinking it would definitely work.

The detail in these pic's is mind blowing, approximately how far were you from the subject's, look's like they put some classy glass in those thing's.

Jaja,
The album is fantastic!!!
The clarity is very impressive. Just a couple of questions.
1) Do you use autofocus?

2) What setting,Tiff 2240x1680 1/1, SHQ 1600X1200 1/8(these are just examples) do you find best for your photos?

I don't have this lens, but will hopefully sometime. You recommended the FL-40 first. I think I may do that. I believe Vance recommended the other way around. I respect both of your views. Not exactly sure which I would use more. Probably the FL-40.

Ken,

I'm with UPS here in Bakerspatch. If you have any problems getting your pkg., just give me a shout.
[email protected]
I have a doctors appt. today, so I had to take a day off.

I'm glad they didn't just leave it at your door (for your sake). Shipper may have requested a signature because of value.

Hello Don,

Thanks for your kind words.

1) Yes, I used autofocus. The first setting is the focal range on the Tcon-300 and tha, autofocus works perfectly (E-10 has to be set for the Tcon-300 also)

2) My standard "web" settings: 2240x1680, HQ (jpg 1:8) were used for these shots. The settings depend on what the photos will be used for, but for magazine-prints SHQ jpg is often sufficient.
Choises always are difficult (Tcon-300 or Fl-40 :-)))

Hey Don,

Actually I feel that a person should get the peice of equipment they feel will benefit them the most. I did tell Mary that a TCON would probably be her next best purchase because she does alot of outdoor photography.

Actually, I got the TCON14b first, then the FL40 and then the 300.

If you do more indoor photography and don't have the need for a teleconverter at this time, go for the FL40.

Vance.

Hello Ken,

I don't have any problems with "motion" when using the Tcon-300.

All these railway photos were taken without any support, I even had to struggle against a strong wind. Shutterspeeds from 1/125 to 1/320.

The combination can be balanced rather easyly, but I suppose it requires some practice.

Hello again Jaja!

These shots are fantastic. Such clarity and vibrance. The Tcon-300 is obviously a perfect complement to the E-10. Just wish I could afford one!
;-)

Keep posting.

You might be interested, I spotted a Belgian Restaurant (seafood) in Chester. It's in the Watergate Row. I'll put some photo's of the rows on Photopoint to show what they're about for anyone who dosen't know of Chester and it's history.

Thanks Vance,
That helps a lot.
Do you use the TCON14b very much now that you have the 300?

I know that they all have their uses under different circumstances, but I'm wondering if I had to make a choice as to whether or not I should just wait on the 300 instead of going for the 14b now, in addition to the FL-40.

I do have to take into consideration my wife's input (on top of my head with my camera) in these $$ decisions.
I do most of my work outdoors also.

I am very pleased with the E10's built in flash, but can see a major + in using the FL-40 for bounce light.
Common 4/21!!!!

Hi Don,

Again, I'll revert back to this question. What are you planning on photographing?

The reason I ask, the TCON14b does real good but it is only a 200mm converter. So if your expecting it to reach out there, you may get disappointed.

TCON300 is about $200 more, and it is really good for reaching out and getting those longs shots, but is a bear to get something that is close and moving.

The FL40, well, I've only experimented with it, and don't really have a lot of use time with it. Jaja, or others could probably help you on that decision.

As for the wife thing. Sorry, I'm a confirmed bachelor and can only imagine the excuses I would have had to use to get all this stuff. ;o)
