Ok I'll bite. Assuming this is for real, are we suppose to
update version A or B?
It's probably version B - U - L - L

Awesome work guys!! and Haw Haw to all the nay-sayers!!...
I hope it works? Anybody confirm?
If you are so confident, why don't you install it on your D70
and tell us if it really works (or actually does something)?

I was talking about the firmware that you download from Nikon... It looks like it has the same padding that you were talking about... Infact the 2 firmwares look nearly identical... exceps for a few minor changes

No.

I've found that file in the group file space and deleted it.

If that's true, that's what a legitimate hack should look like.
Still, I would like the author to tell me what he did.

this thread is going no where. This thread needs to be killed. If the Hak group were to have a competent Hak group leader or leadership, he/she wouldv'e kindly asked for beta testers with compensation somehow or assurances that the firmware can be undone without having to send the camera back to Nikon. Then this post would have been fruitfull. Too bad...

If and when the group will decide that something is ready for use, you will hear the announcement :) Lack of such means that the group has nothing to offer at the moment.

IMHO suggesting a file from group archive was a wrong move.

Maybe they did... I can't read it tho.... this is where vadaszg found the firmware... it's hungarian so I can't read it... http://forum.index.hu/Article/showArticle?t=9101940

But I wouldn't write it off... it may be legit... we just gotta find someone with big ballz.

"Atfutottam a lista leveleit, ha jol vettem ki, az uj firmware annyit tud, hogy a "Settings"-ben a "Video mode" helyett "Vidio mode" van kiirva. ;) Csak teszteltek, hogy nincs-e valamilyen belso vedelem a firmware atirasara. Ezen kivul meg az 1/16000-es zarido bekapcsolasanak modjat talaltak meg, de meg senki se merte tesztelni."

This sounds interesting. Although I'm not willing to risk my D70 to find out if it works. A "video" mode though? Since when did our D70 become a point and shoot? ;)

It didn't and that's not what the post up there claims... It's about the PAL/NTSC video mode selection under Settings... And an apparent typo (Vidio vs. Video) - maybe that's the difference between the original and "hacked" firmware :))

PS: I can't speak nor read hungarian, but the post above seems to me as sceptical as this thread is. Just a feeling it leaves off.

That was the test for checksum protection presense. One letter was changed, and the firmware was successfully loaded. Camera was fully operational after that.

Sorry guys, I am also a member of the NikonD70_hak. No breakthrough just yet.

This is a false alarm! MLU ISO3200 and multiple curves have not been implemented. I have just checked the forum myself and the only firmware modifcation made so far is to change a menu text (proof of principle)

vadaszg must have been confused.

Cheers,

marius
