so im living here at school and i live on top of this great hill. well i had been in the basement for around an hour before this due to a possible tornado, which for better or worse didnt hit here

(i was hoping for a SMALL tornado, as this school was hit a year ago, and the mathmatical odds of that happening with in around 14 months are so low it would have just be increidble)

well, i like to shoot out my window when storms are close, so i was doing just that. shooting stopped down to i think around F10 because the storm was close and i wanted 30 second expousers to get as many bolts as possible. well, JUST before the shutter closed the brightest loudest thing happens... the tree 20 yards from my window gets hit. as evidenced by this picture. yeah i wish the quality was a little better, but im very happy considering i think i just bested the luck of what most people here will ever get...

tim: i will consider letting you host a copy of it. thanks for the offer.

If I'd taken this shot and aleady didn't live in Los Angeles, where there's practically no lightening ever... I'd be in my car right now with a U-Haul attached to the back bumper heading west down route 66 with a for sale sign back in the front lawn of the house that I never want to see again. lol!

To hell with that man.

As Tim said WOW!!!!!!!!

That would be the closest ground strike I have ever seen on film.
Well done mate on a great capture, you will be famous for that one.

I bet your undies needed cleaning after that one!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cheers
Ray ;-)

Just promise us that you are not that good with PhotoShop!

I expect that the Weather Channel would show that - maybe give you some bucks! I would!

Again, one word: wow!

Make absolutely sure that your copyright is all over that, as I feel it will be popular with a lot of people. I hope people don't try it on by passing it off as their own...

Embed IPTC info into it, for sure.

Cheers,
Nick.
