thanks, any idea what equipment is in that photo?

Paul

I've noticed alot people (including myself) asking about camera
bags for the D70. Some people have photographed their D70 inside a
bag with lenses, etc. I was thinking of putting together a website
listing all these as theyre really hard to find on this forum. I
think it would be useful to all.

So If you can post them here along with perhaps a brief description
of the bag name and the contents , I'll put something together.

thanks

I just got it yesterday but i think i might return it. The Camera fits ok but the extra compartments just with the D70 charger and extra items that came with it, fillled it up already, almost no space for the manual.

I've had an ongoing discussion about the subject bag with the guys in the D100 forum. The question was would a D70 (D100, D2H) 70-200VR/TC14EII combo fit. Some with the bag said "no way" and others said it would. Turns out there are two different 75AWs -- the original and one just released that is 1" deeper. I ordered a new one last week and here is the result.

I've been looking at that model and need exactly that. For those of you who have the bag, is is "shock-absorbing" enough to withstand bumps and bangs from time to time. If I'm hiking or walking quickly or whatever, do the contents stay where they're put or is there some indication of shifting? Is the bag sturdy enough to withstand large amonts of weight?
THanks

The backpack harness they sell for this bag works pretty well,
although it seems like it has straps everywhere! It's well worth
the $25.

In my opinion, the bag is well padded on the bottom (approx. 1 inch of foam on top of a 1/8 inch sheet of plastic) and sides. The inner dividers seem to be quite sturdy and stay where they're placed. I haven't had any problems with equipment shifting (packed as pictured, 20 pounds including the weight of the bag) on the two hikes I've taken it on: one 5-mile hike with 1200 ft elevation gain, another 3-mile hike with 1400 ft elevation gain with a seriously overgrown trail. Keep in mind that I've only had the bag for about six months, and the backpack harness for only about 3 weeks. The Compact AW is part of their Professional line, so others may be able to speak about the durability of other bags in that line (I see the Magnum AW mentioned here every so often).

low_spin_config,

Appreciate a response. It seems so hard these days to get a decent reply on this forum with so many questions and comments going around, but nevertheless my questions are answered. I think I'll be going ahead with the purchase and hope it's the right choice. A 70-200 would be able to fit in the bag, right? How about in the vertical position?

I've updated the website with thumbnails now to make it a little less bandwidth intensive.

One idea is to add photos of bags being carried, to get an idea of scale. Its very hard to tell from a closeup photo.

Perhaps if you have a bag you could photo yourself with it and i'll add it to the relevent pages. you can chop your head off (digitally of course) if you want to remain anonymous.

thanks

I've slowly been building up the bag resource site, lots of people have sent me their photos of d70 & bag. But I still only have 2 tamrac bags on there.

So could any tamrac d70 owners help me out. Just a couple of shots with the bag empty and filled with equipment, is all i really need.

and remember its good to take photos of you equipment for insurance purposes if it gets stolen ;-)

thanks in advance

Ok, this is the stuff I keep in mine: D70 with kit lens (or 50mm), Spare battery, spare CF-card and USB-cable.

It is a bit of a tight fit, but you probably cant get a more compact bag! Everybody knows how big a DVD is, right?

It is definitely smaller than the Lowepro Top Loader Zoom 1:

Want to take an extra lens? Take out the Tamrac Medium Lens Case (MX5375):

And clip it on:

I too like a small bag...for day to day use...I think it looks funny lugging around a hug camera bag everywhere you go....so I purchased the Tamrac Velocity 5. It is a snug fit with the Body,18-70, 50, and 70-300, but it works. Also I like the fanny pack feature and the quick zip open top. Once I get my SB800 I will buy an attachment like yours for your medium size lens. I'll only take the big bag (Tamrac Pro 8), when I need to also take my Sony DCR-TRV85 camcorder.

It seems like most on this forum prefers Lowepro. Any significant difference between the two brands?
