I have been using a S2 pro for almost 2 years with great results except for one thing. Low light focus such as a wedding shot without flash are almost impossible to get a sharp focus. I have a friend who has the same problem so its not my camera. Anyone have simular problams or suggestions?

Hi,

May I ask what is the lens you are using? Low light without flash, I guess you are using its highest aperture ...

I am using a Nikon 24-120 f3.5 zoom. I have the problems only in low light situations such as weddings where no flash is used. I've used a different f stops with the same results. One thing though, I usually use in tn program mode. I have it on a tripod with a cable release so there is no camera shake. I've even manually focused with the same results. I have a friend with the exact same outfit but his does the same. No problem in studio conditions.

my S2 is way better in low light than my 1DII
but you gotta give it some light ... get a 50 1.8
or 85 1.8 for your low light stuff ... the 3.5 is not
enough to give you enough light for AF in really
low light conditions ... I have the 28-75 DI Tamron on
my MKII and am happy with it .. on the S2 I use
the 28-70 AF-S .. and it is focussing ok .. you also
I also use the Metz 70MZ5 for weddings and it has
a good AF asisst beam ... better than the S2 . ..
but you said no flash .. so you best bet is get a faster lens ..

good luck

So get a fast lens - Tamron 28-75 2.8 is cheap and OK, any Nikkor
f2.8 af-s is not cheap but very good - all those are quite obvious
things to mention...
