Is it me or is she beautiful, my latest granddaughter taken with Fuji S2 Nikon 50mm 1.4 @ 4.8 1/60 and SB800. Put these four together a beautiful model, superb camera, great lens and the controlled light of the SB800 you can’t go wrong.

Thanks Flick, testing a method picked-up from DWF using the flash on camera and bouncing off the nearby wall and ceiling the lighting turned out fairly well for a snap shot. A bit hot on the forehead and bridge of the nose, shot using camera set to raw mode and increased the exposure third of a stop so plenty of room to move. Still all in all the 8*10 print looks great.

Any other comments, observations or tip with using flash on camera most welcome.

Regards Gazza.

Beautiful baby - and you were smart enough to shoot in raw and get the FULL range of tones. It is nice to see "snapshots" with full highlight and shadow detail!!!

Steve I resisted for months switching from jpeg to raw but after buying CS and using all the available workflow tools (Dr Brown…..) I love using raw. I here that C1 has greater flexibility and much faster to use than CS but could be sometime before the $ are available. The other thing I like about raw is, as future technology improves old file may receive a new and improved look. There’s one frustration issue that’s arising and that’s the file size of the new S3, don’t think I could keep the compact flash cards up to such a hungry beast, so will need to reconsider raw V Jpeg issue.
