caught my dog and his friend running around the dogpark.

taken with 70-200mm f/4L. Lighting makes a huge difference...first one there was sunlight. second one the marine layer rolled in.
i in particular like the second one with the grass in the air hehehe

enjoy :)

Hello MelloBoy,
Very nice pictures. I really like the action in the second one.

Is the dog on the right an English Pointer. You do not see many of them around although they are very good family dogs.

I have an English Pointer "Toby" who is a real ham along with his buddy "Alfee" a ShihTzu. They are known as the odd couple.

Here is a shot of them.

regards,

Wonderful pics! I love the expressions in the first pic. You certainly nailed these two action shots.

for both photos I was using sports mode so I could use AI Servo. Or else, I wouldn't have been able to focus on dogs that were moving around. I'll see if I can get the actual exif data up during my lunchbreak, but these weren't taken in the creative modes.

These could really start a big thread,

The Exif data is mostly still in the picture if you copy and paste it to some directory. I use the free 'Exifer' to view the data. It has been worked on in PS7 and that seems to loose some of the data e.g. 'Makernotes'. I used the Canon 28-135 IS lens to capture him at full zoom. I am beginning to really like this lens for animals and general purpose use but I also carry the kit lens with me for wide angle use. (It's small enough to leave in mt bag.) I have a couple of L lenses for serious work - i.e. paid work - but they are heavy items for the 300D and I don't feel comfortable using them for recreational use. They are more valuable than the camera and I am too concerned about their safety to relax for day-to-day stuff.

The 28-135 feels very comfortable for me and the IS makes it hand-holdable even at full stretch. It seems a really good compromise to me.

Of course it's just a matter of taste but I bought it to photograph domestic animals without having to get right on top of them.

Tony.

Nice job MelloBoy. You nailed them.
