dear ,

as i'll be making a big trip soon (with the 10d being my travel companion :-) where i won't be able to recharge the batteries, i'll need a large amount of batteries for the 10d (between 5-10...)

as the original bp-511 is waaaay to expensive, i'm looking for a cheap replacement (with 10 pieces, every buck counts...).

i've seen that there are plenty of good offers in the US, but I live in Europe, so I can't order them from the US (shipping would take too long).

If someone knows a good alternative brand I can get in europe, i'd appreciate it (haehnel seems to be good, but with 34 euros it's still a bit expensive; and i can't find the energizer ER-C590 in european shops).

If you know a reliable shop in europe, i'd also be willing to get a no-name battery (i'm a bit reluctant on getting batteries on ebay)

thanks!!!

tried for the bast Haehnel deal online?) then you might contact Sterlingtek to see if they can ship to your location, seems like they would be able to.

It is hard for me to believe you won't be able to charge batteries, but that being the case, the cheapest way to go is Sterlingtek and it seems like they should be able to get them to you right away.

A-Eighty: It's a really neat camera, even if it's not black.

Gee-Five: What a fine camera, too, with some great features -- and it's black!
(There! Now I can't be accused of harming newbie camera searches).

Try Nomatica (www.nomatica.com) they have them at € 45. Hope it's a nice price for you.

I'm not sure; I plan to visit Afrika (Eritrea, North of Aethiopia). Most probably I will take a guide (with a car), but I'm not sure yet. But even if I get to take the car, I'm not sure it will have a 12V adapter. Do you think I could get current directly from the car battery ?
Thanks, Chris

It's easier to buy a car adapter, every car as a cigarret lighter.

10 bat are a lot of bat!

You sure?? I saw some very funny ("home-assembled") cars in some pics made by a friend of mine ;-)

No reason why you can't jump a 12v charger direct from a car battery but I'd put a fuse on the feed, (3 amp - I'm guessing here so don't sue me !)
The car charger is pretty expensive though ( £89 !)

I'm not sure if they post to Europe but http://www.7dayshop.com on Jersey do BP-511 equivelents for £14.99

I've got 2 and I recon they are better than the originals ( again no test here just my impression)
Have a good trip.

I have travelled a lot all over Africa and really never had problems with electricity. I’m sure you will find lots of trucks in the way, camping’s etc, where you can charge your bats. Don’t worry! But check on adapters because the plugs are different from those used in USA.
