Thanks David..

Nice to see prices going DOWN for a chnage!

I have never seen the brand before. Are they fairly well known or one of the newer perhps less tested brands?

Thanks for the info!

Jeff
I thought that the new owners of the MKII could use a break on some
CF prices...

Is this part of the "reduced CF pricing" that we were told about a few weeks ago? I hope so! These prices are looking really attractive! I can't wait for the 5GB Seagate Microdrives (oops, am I allowed to call it that?).

I have one of their 512MB cards. This company makes makes lots of optical media under the name RITEK.

The 512 works great, but compared to my Sandisk Ultra II it is slow. The RIDATA is rated at 6mps write and the Sandisk at 9msb write. I willl watch and see if the Sandisk price drops some as well.

Amazon has a 1Gb Viking Compactflash card for $151.14 and $45 MIR, to bring it down to about $107

I bought a Viking 512MB because it was so cheap.
But I can't use it because it is so unreliable and slow too.

I will never buy Viking again.

...Not sure that this topic has already covered, but... I just noticed that my FAT32 1Gb SanDisk Extreme card boots lightning-fast on the MKII, coincidentally after 1.0.2 firmware upgrade.

I did re-format under FAT16 (with 1.0.2) and got back the same slower start-up. Then reformatted again under FAT32, and I can barely see the I/O Led turn on when booting-up the camera, as soon as the I/O system initializes the root directory. It just flies. Therefore, it seems that FAT32 seems to be main reason, here.

If I am the last one on this boat, please, ignore this thread. Just sharing.

And, for all those folks out-there that have taken the time to send me emails and requests regarding FLEXSharp, I just ask you to stand still and be patient, while I finish this latest and greatest v2.0 (probably two more weeks to go), with full documentation set, and latest m-series sharpening levels, custom-tuned for MarkII's .JPGs and C1 conversions. I am sure you will all be delighted and satisfied with this new version, since I am currently testing it for strictly professional purposes.

Happy shooting, until then!
