I just took a photo and was dismayed to see a smudge right in the center of it... (look carefully and you can just make it out?)

I don't think I've got dirt on the lens or moisture build up or anything... in fact the only remote possibility I can even imagine is that I left my camera on the ground and accidently kicked it yesterday. Do you think there might be any connection?

G ;)

I'm sorry Capital G, I can't see the smudge. Could you post a few more pics that show it more clearly? If it shows up only on bright days, you might try a neutral density filter or even opening the aperture to decrease the depth of field. Or maybe it's your SD memory card - what brand are you using? I bet if this camera had Image Stabilization, you wouldn't be having this smudge problem.

Hehehe - LOL!!!

All good suggestions I'm sure brianhare, and thanks anyway, but I've decided that I don't want to fix the problem afterall. Since posting the pic I have had at least a dozen email offers to buy the camera - as is - some offering 3 and 4 times its actual value. Apparently there are a number of individuals out there on the Internet with some pretty serious 'smudge fetishes'.

Yes and you know what they say about the size of a man's
feet so we should all feel sorry for him L.O.L

clever pic all the same.

No worries Capital G. Good thread, though, we need more humor in our lives. Did you get our camera yet? I posted in a couple of threads (I forget which ones) that Fry's electronics has the 6490 advertised for $297.

No, not yet jm_mac, but thanks for asking. I believe I have decided to go with the dx7440 at this point and it has not quite surfaced up here in Canada yet...

I think I am going to wait for the dx7590 to come out. By then I'm sure my wife will be tired of sharing the 7440 (or I will) so I will just HAVE to go out and buy another camera! :)

Ok now I get it. You had a close encounter of the smelliest kind with an unidentified foot object.
