Got my D70 two days ago. I love it a lot.
Just wonder how to shoot a firework show.
This is my first SLR. I didn't want the kit lens.
Got 50mm 1.4D instead.

btw, I bought it from local RitzCamera shop for $999.
Why do ebay keep selling them for over 1k even
without the lens?

With shorter shutter speeds the results look more natural.
180mm, f/2.8, 1/125s, 1600 iso handheld.

I haven't gone through that article completely but its pretty good
from what I've seen thus far. Personally, I shot my fireworks
vertically at f16-22 for about 8-10s using 200ISO…

Please forgive the ghost images.
I forgot to remove my UV filter.
(shame…)

Nice gallery Ryan! LCT, nice shot! I am glad you warned me about having the uv protector on. I wonder how the VR lens would do with fireworks at like 1/30th or slower handheld? I guess I will have to experiment ALOT!

Can any filter be left on your lens and not affect the fireworks shots? I would be worried to take off my protective filter considering I am so accident prone.

Manual focus to infinity
Manual exposure, handheld (1/50s, f/4.5)

Hi Owen,
The best way to avoid ghost images is to remove any filter.

Same for all night shots when there are more or less bright lights in the field of view.
