Sharpening RAW photos in PS

After I import RAW images in PS 5.5 I'm unable to sharpen them. None of the options under the filter menu are available. Also I use NIK Sharpener. Any help would be appreciated.

You have to go to image/mode to convert to 8 bit mode. Then
the filters will work. You should be able to use unsharp mask in
16 bit mode however (ar least in PS 6.0).
I find that it's best to correct levels and/or curves in 16 bit,
then go to 8 bit for whatever else you want to do.
Sharpening is best done last.
