I went back to the store I got my D70 Kit from today just to ask about a spot I saw in my photos in the same place. Like a dead pixel. It just looked like a red "+". Visible at 100% in photoshop when looking at the image. Not on the LCD.
My main reason for going back was some scratches I found on my Nikon 18-70mm AF-S DX F/3.5-4.5 lens. I only wanted to show them the photos on my laptop and ask what the problem was with that.
Anyway, this is when I saw a change in attitude from the owner. He just said he would ship the whole kit back to Nikon. I didn't mind the camera though, I could edit out that little spot in photoshop. I had just bought this 3 days ago, but lost the LCD cover when taking photos in the woods yesterday. When he didn't see the LCD cover in the box, he said they can't take it back.
I just asked about the lens, since that's what has damage. I put a filter on it as soon as I got the lens home, so it wasn't caused by me. The scratch is on the inside of the lens it seems too. But he just kept telling me "It's a kit". As in I can't return the lens separately.
The lens has it's own warranty card though. I should be able to send this back on it's own shouldn't I ?
Something just seemed suspicious to me just by how I was treated. I was very calm and nice to the people in the store. Wasn't demanding at all. I was just more curious about these things I came across yesterday with my camera.
Then I notice just now, that the Quick Charger has a sticker on the cord saying "US". When I looked at the bottom of the quick charger, it's not CSA approved. Just has the UL logo. So now I'm wondering what's going on here. Don't all electrical devices for sale in Canada have to be CSA approved?
I was just wondering if anyone in Canada that bought a D70 recently has a similar serial number as mine, since I'm wondering where this kit came from now. My serial starts with the number 5004XXX. I just don't know if this will help ease my mind.
I've called Nikon Canada to ask about this lens, but the person there was helping someone else, so I left a voice message.
