After placing an order for a Sigma flash, Bogen tripod and other items on 6/16 online with Adorama, I have been trying to get a status update. The online status showed only "pick ticket printed" from 6/17-6/23. Three emails attempting to get a status update were never answered and my one phone call to them regarding this resulted in my being placed in the wonderful world of "please hold (and, apparently, never, ever call this # again if you know what's good for you)". Last night, frustrated by the total disregard for a customer, I wrote a scathing, and totally true, review on the reseller ratings site. Sometime late last night, the status of my order changed to "invoiced" although the order detail shows only "packed" and the tracking #s are not recognized by UPS, so I guess other than Adorama getting their money, I still don't have any merchandise nor have any idea when or if I will ever get it. Coincidence or the only way to get their attention? Needless to say, and for what it's worth, I won't be doing business with them again.

Adorama has been in business for a long time, so I doubt they have a total disregard for the customer. I read your review: Obviously, there is a problem in their system. You should contact your credit card company to see when they charged your card. They are not supposed to charge you until they ship.

AOL's spam filtering has become very aggressive and it is quite possible that Adorama has tried to send you emails, which were rejected by AOL. This is becoming more common, and I have three or four online sellers who must send emails to my work because their messages don't get through to my home (via AOL.) This has become so troublesome that I might have to quit using AOL.

I realize that Adorama has been in business for a long time and that they are highly thought of, which was one big reason why I ordered from them. I am also very familiar with AOLs spam filtering and have it turned off, plus regularly check my spam folder. Other than the one forwarding reply mentioned in my review, I have never received any email from them.

I received a call from Adorama a few minutes ago. He said he had seen my posting (didn't say if it was this one or the review) and was disturbed by it. He apologized and said he didn't yet know what had happened, but the order should have shipped on the 17th. He said it did ship yesterday and that they were not charging me shipping.

So to be fair, I have added this to my review and have adjusted my ratings to a somewhat higher level.

Now, once I receive this equipment, maybe I can start posting about what this board is all about, photography.

I just tried Adorama because B & H did not have stock on what I needed.

I am receiveing the same treatment and situation. I placed an order on Monday and its status is still Print Ticket Printed.

I paid extra for 3 day shipping, a lot of good that is going to do for me!

I have never had these problems with B & H, maybe that is why I have spent alot of money with them and will not trust Adorama, again.

I just spoke to Adorama...finally!

Their standard turn around time for orders is 3 to 5 days! That is depending on "how backed up we are around here".

I am not here to tout B & H but they provide better service, and when I have had problems they have fixed them quickly, well nobody is perfect.

Photographic equipment is a commodity, the reason we shop anywhere is for service, I think Adorama has forgotten that.

shootr50,

You cannot do anything about the spam filtering on the AOL servers. The only thing you can control is your own local spam filtering. Suffice it to say, you cannot really affect AOL's aggressive spam filtering.

I think it is clear that there are companies with better shipping policies and customer service than Adorama. Fair enough. Your situation warrants an appropriate review, but not an emotional tirade. I'm glad you took the time to update your review. Many people would not bother.

I finally received a shipping notice email from Adorama. The order didn't ship until the evening of the 24th and I was charged for shipping. So much for phone calls. So, my original review stands.

Just received an email with an invoice crediting back the shipping charges.

Reminder to self. DON'T buy anything else for awhile. I need to catch my breath and take some pictures.

Adorama is a good reliable company, BUT they must have the worst shipping dept in the world. As long as you are not in a hurry (never order anything for a RUSH shipment) then you are okay. You will get what you ordered, eventually.

If you want something RUSH, order from B&H. I think if you order before 2pm, they can ship it the same day, if it's in stock, of course.

I really hated to learn that the hard way. Now it's UPS that I'm at the mercy of . This was shipped 3-day select with pickup at Adorama on 6/24, 8pm, and "departure scan" and "billing info received" on 6/25, 5am. Scheduled delivery, 6/30, ie, 3 days = 4 days. New math, I guess. So I have to put off my departure on my trip for a day. Good thing I'm driving, not flying.

And I did order some other items from B&H 5 minutes after completing the Adorama order. They arrived last Tuesday afternoon. But they wanted $40 more for the flash and I couldn't find the tripod leg, head combo that I wanted.

Live and learn.
