I would welcome comments on the best image editing software under say $150.00. Am interested in improving quality of picture and then being able to use the image in different software templates. Thank you in advance for your comments.

I've been happy with Photosuite III. Very easy to use. If you want the added horspower without the cost try Photoshop LE. It basically has most of what Photoshop offers but for $75 versus over $500. I use both of these and have no complaints.

If you are an Apple fan, go for the Photoshop LE. If you are a Win98 user, (especially if you use Microsoft Office), go with Micrografx Picture Publisher 8. It uses the same tool bars as Office and is the easiest to integrate with Office. It has the functionality of full version Photoshop. It's avaiable from buy.com for $36.77 USD. Don't let the price fool you, this is good stuff!

Other very fine and reasonably-priced image editing software:

Jasc's PaintShop Pro ( http://www.jasc.com ) (apparently selling for $59 on-line with links on this website, and ULead's PhotoImpact ( http://www.ulead.com ) . Both have most of the functionalities of PhotoShop, at a fraction of the cost.

I've very pleased with ThumbsPlus - believe it's under $100.

No one program does it all. I use PIE for lossless rotation - it's quick and easy, CPIC for red-eye reduction - point and click, ThumbsPlus for general improvement of the image, and I've recently found (from this forum) PrintStation, which seems to offer the easiest interface, I've seen so far, for printing multiple prints on multiple pages in either portrait or landscape.

Do you heard something good about Kai's Photo Soap 2? It seems to be easy to use and quiet complex for basic image editing (for home users). However, I am just looking for any software for this purpose, too.

I can recommend Picture Window Pro, comes at

Some years ago I selected this tool after trying about 15 different editors to achieve what I thought was a simple task, PWP was the easiest to use and got the best results in the shortest time, which is the reason I went for it. I sometimes dabble in some of the competitors offerings, but when it matters, I use PWP only.

I think is the best. I use Paint.net/PhotoScape/Irfanview as well, but I like the nice UI in and its definitely easier. It’s a free one like Paint.net and PhotoScape but is far more simple and a has real cool look and feel. You can download it on here
