I wonder if anyone has had this problem - my 1270 produces a series of magenta lines across the page. On a photo they are only 2 to 3mm apart and cover not just the image but the entire page from edge to edge and top to bottom. I'm using USB connection.

Epson UK say - 'the lines appear to be a hardware fault , possible head cable or main board'. I would be grateful for any feedback on repairs, DIY or otherwise.
Thanks.

I have the same problem with mine but the lines are blue. I was told the same thing. Cheaper to go buy another printer. The repair bill is outrageous on printers. I am holding out for the newest wide format printer to come out which will be like the R800.

In the past I have had trouble with my 2000P printing a line about 1/2" from either end.

The solution ws to do a print head cleaning. After that the trouble went away. (Well at least until the next time it clogged!)

yep...try cleaning the heads and do a nozzle check...make sure you aren't printing in Economy setting.

Thanks for your replys. I tried all the usual ways of cleaning and realigning using the software, but I ended up taking the printhead off and cleaning it manually. I managed to reassemble everything and the first printout was perfect, but the problem came back on the next print.

I later read on MWords website that the printhead itself can develop -"a single 'one jet high' lines of solid ink printing randomly across your prints or it could be a problem with the main circuit board".

Fortunately I only use the 1270 as a backup, But I am considering replacing the printhead if I can get hold of one.
Thanks again.

I had fine blue lines start showing up - spaced perfectly, running horizontally beyond the image area. Did some research, took the printer partially apart, cleaned the heads with windex and it went away - briefly! It randomly comes back and strangly their is no consistent pattern of when it will show up. Some days it happens, I stop using the printer for a number of weeks(and use my 2200 for everything) and then go back to the 1270 and it will be fine - for a while. So it has been regulated to back up in my case as well. Very frustrating, expensive when it occurs and dissapointing as I feel I have not gotten the trouble free life out of the printer it should give. I can't help feeling that it has something to do with those "made in china" ink carts which epson switched to a few years back as it started showing up around the same time Epson changed the place of manufacture and I seemed to be getting more clogs with those carts at the time.

I, too, had the same experience with my 1270, magenta lines, even on the highest quality settings, glossy paper and after cleaning. I contacted Epson, USA, they too told me to buy another printer. As this was over a year ago, I bought a 1280. So far, it's done fine.

I've just priced the cost of a new printhead - £80 and the mainboard around £90 (DIY), so I'll write it off. Needless to say I've taken out insurance on my 2100.
