At last I am about to take the plunge and add the 2100 to my 2500 - has anyone any views to offer about 10x8 prints from this, he UZI that is?

Having mentioned that I am about to take the plunge, I realise that is untrue as I ordered the camera today. The next few days are going to pass very sowly waiting for it to arrive. Isn't it grand to experience such excitement at 73?

Incidentally, if anyone has picutres to boast about I would be pleased to see the odd sample--Ray Medford

Hot damn, you are old, grandpa! :D But you are sure young at heart. I am getting one myself, should be here soon. Hehehe.

Hi Ray,

If you haven't been to the "Samples and Galleries" forum yet, there are a number of links to sites where 2100 folks. Some pretty nice stuff. Just go here and search on 2100:

I haven't printed any 8x10, but those who do are very, very happy folks from what I read here.

And you are not that old :)...my father (76) was interested in buying a new digicam and I got him to buy an OLy 2100, too. He's had it about 3 weeks now and loves it...I love the fact that he can put the pictures of family members on the web for me to see. My brother has the Oly 3030 (thanks to me, too) and sends me excellent pictures. I have the 2020 and 2100 to send pictures back to everyone. My husband and I live in Florida and all of our relatives live in Ohio, so we are very grateful for the internet and digital cameras.

Ray - May you have many many years of equal excitement using this camera. The 2100, using shq, is capable of very impressive 8X10's.

Congratulations on ordering your new Uzi. Your gonna love it. My 8x10's come out wonderful printed on an Epson 750 using Epson heavy weight matte paper and a great printing program called Qimage Pro. I have several scenic shots framed at 8x10 in my office and people cannot believe they are from a digital camera. (let alone a 2.1 megapixel). Everyone is very impressed. Even in HQ mode they look great. Best of luck...Bob

Ray.........Don't ever let anyone disparage you because of age. You are a winner! I'm old and I still work 32 hours per week at a stressful, demanding job, still have my Harleys, still enjoy my photography, as a hobby and doing portrait work for other people. I have a closet ful of mostly Canon SLRs, but the digital revolution has given me as much excitement and enthusiasm as any of those. Ilke you I already owned the Oly 2500 and the Epson 3000Z and couldn't wait to get the 2100uz. It is great..... enlarges to 8x10 very nicely. Try to always fill the viewfinder with subject to take advantage of as many pixels as possible. I bought the B300 and can't praise it enough. (It also fits my Epson.) Take pride in all you've done and all you've learned. Enjoy! .... Dav

Thank you all, Ladies and Gentlemen, what a great bunch of folk you are, I feel at least 20 years younger .

I ordered the beast yesterday and believe it or not it arrived this morning (who said serve isn't what it was?), and with a 64MB card as wel. i have been out and about testing it and am now going to look at the results.

As I already have an Oly 2500 I found the new one so easy to use. all i have to do now is sit quietly with it and the manual for a familiarisation session - Oh to heck with that, let's take some more pictures!

Thanks again, and special thanks to those people who make this forum possible.

Ray:

You will luv the 2100. 8x10's look great when you use a good ink jet printer and paper. But the most important part is the picture and with the 2100 you will capture images that can't be had with another camera.

best,

Peter
