Hi Antonio thanks for your coments.
I had seen those concert pics earlier today on the D70 forum.
I agree with you that the kit lens and the S7000 lens are probably similar in sharpnes. I have been looking at some of those 2.8 lenses but they are a bit expensive! I must confess that I have got my eye on one but not for a few more months yet.
In the next few weeks I will buy a 50mm F1.4 lens and I will then do some comparisons with the kit lens for sharpnes. If I can see and improvement in the sharpnes over the kit lens then I will go ahead and purchase one of the F2.8 70 to 200 zooms. If I cannot see much of a difference then I may have to re think that rather expensive F2.8
When doing night shots the kit lens does flare up more than the s7000 lens as I had many night pics that flares from bright lights that were just out of the frame, were as when I took night shots with the S7000 a few months ago there was hardly any lens flare.
The night shot pics with the d70 are much better than what I got with the s7000.
Thanks for your input

congratulations Jose.
However I think pics taken with kit lens don't show such a big
difference with S7000.
Here are some pics of a concert that would be impossible to take
with an s7000, but they are taken with Nikon 70-200 VR lens (1600$)

What is the budget to allocate for really fine results with D70?
