Nikon keeps letting me down.

I quoted you directly and gave you credit for you writings. If you
don't like it, then don't write it.

Step up and take credit for what you have said. I have not
misquoted you. I have not stolen your material. I have credited
you where it is due and I have actually listed your site so others
could read it for themselves.

Trying to interpret what I am trying to accomplish is out of your
specialty, unless you read minds.
You qoute his article to backup ur rant post, then u insult him.

Travis dear, u dont really know when to stop do u ?

I'm defending myself, as he is incorrect in his assessment of my intentions.

I quoted his website properly and completely. I stated that I agree with his assessment of Nikon as he has written for everyone to see. I only disagree with his assessment of me and my intentions, and find it insulting.

His writings are right there for everyone on the web to see...it can not be disputed that he wrote it.

I understand that a lot of his business is Nikon-related, so it probably isn't the best thing for him to have those writings brought to the forefront. However, integrity calls for a writer to stand behind his writings.

As to my intentions; they are as follows.

1. Hear the experiences of other posters to see if a pattern exists. There have been multiple posters on dpreview who have experienced problems with new products and with tech support, as well as writings on Thom Hogan's website substantiating these problems.

2. Make my experience known on this forum as well as to Nikon so that they are more likely to correct the problems when dealing with me.

3. Notify potential Nikon purchasers of some of the pitfalls of Nikon that should be considered in the overall purchase equation.

Know a good restaurant? recommend it.

Been to a bad restaurant? Warn your friends.

...when I deal with people that aren't rational and can't seem to
think straight because they get so emotional.
A good self description.
Please answer the questions.
What questions?!? What are you talking about? Are you confused? You
never asked me any questions! On the contrary I asked YOU some
questions, but never got an answer... But as always with you in
this thread, you preach one thing, and do the opposite...
I find it difficult to have a serious tone with someone such as
you. You aren't interested in being objective. You seem to be
interested in attacking the messenger, rather than disputing or
agreeing with the facts. That usually tells a person that you
really don't have an objective viewpoint and that this is an
emotional subject for you, not a rational one.

Please answer the questions.
Please see my reply above.
Please explain why I am wrong in complaining about Nikon service
when I have been treated poorly. Also, please explain why you
believe I am incorrect in saying that Nikon quality isn't as high
as it used to be.
Now you're being paranoidly defensive again, because I NEVER said
you were wrong in complaining about being treated badly. If you had
in fact READ my posts, you would see I actually SUPPORTED you in
being upset when treated poorly.

On the second question: your opinion that Nikon's quality isn't as
high as it used to be is highly subjective, as you seem to base it
on your personal experience only, so it's impossible to say if your
correct or not.

Now, please read my post before answering to them. Your projecting
onto others of your own ways of reacting are pretty disturbing.

Thomas.

My personal opinion of this:

1. That is true if you consider Thom Hogan any kind of authority on this. I'm not saying he isn't but considering his reaction to this thread and someone thinking enough of him to quote his writings I just don't know how I would take him.

2. I would email a link to this thread to some execs of Nikon in North America and Japan. Japan mainly.

3. A good goal. I believe you had a bad experience it's just less than I had expected out of a company like Nikon.

Please, no matter what you do, don't anyone admit that there may be
flaws in a company or product.

If you do admit that Nikon's customer service could be improved or
that they could build better quality into their products, your
whole world will come crashing down and you will feel like a sucker
(sarcasm, for those of you that aren't real sharp in the noodle).
I guess that's what some might be afraid of......that's the only
reason that these people want to put their heads in the sand and
not admit the obvious.

I think a rational person would be able to admit the flaws and want
them improved. This same rational person could still appreciate
the product's good attributes, but wouldn't be afraid of buyer's
remorse just because the product is less than perfect.

I find it interesting....there are many people on this forum that
lack reason and are completely irrational. If you are one of them,
I'm sure we will hear your illogical ramblings and personal attacks
soon. And, of course, they will avoid the real issue while
focusing on emotions and nonsensical opinions.

This forum is working great at making sure my message continues to
be heard..... exactly why I posted it.

...in my letter and contacts with Nikon.
What's with the mystery all of a sudden? I thought you wanted this out in the open?

Thomas.
Points agreed with!
No. Thom is specific. You are vague. What exactly are your
problems, was it with a lens, or with the camera, or with both
cameras? What do you expect from Nikon?

Aw, this is just to good to stay away from. Nice to have a front row seat now just before the final curtain (150), when all your condescending and insulting attitude is collapsing on you. Perfect directing, I love happy endings :-)

Hope you find some way to deal with your anger. I couldn't care less about what you think about Nikon tech support, and it doesn't offend me the slightest (why should it?). You might have a point hidden in there somewhere, sadly I can't really use it for anything objectivly, as you're all too vague and emotional about the whole thing... Thom Hogan, on the other hand, makes some well thought out points that makes sense and are actually constructive.

BUT what I do find offensive is your attitude towards fellow forum members, that is way out of line - THAT's the problem, not your selfrighteous whining about Nikon Service. If you'd stuck to the issue, you might have made an interesting thread on this - now it's just another 150-posts-hall-of-flame thread floating into oblivion and soon forgotten. What did you accomplish? Besides insulting some fellow forum members - Nothing.

Get happy :-)

Thomas.

PS. I'm sorry if you felt offended again, you always seem to be... :-) DS.
