Survey - Number of shots taken

I'm interested to see how many shots people have taken in how long with their 300d/Rebel , and whether or not they have had any Err99 problems.

Please respond in the subject line - it's easier for people to scan the results.

For me - 5,200 shots in 8 months, and now in for service at Canon with Err99

Had the Err99 about 3 weeks only with the camera but attributed it to the contacts and no problems since then.

Don't know, I put in a CF card that I had in my s400 and it screwed up the numbering sheme.

Problably around 4000, no problems yet.

Sorry merbert, but this question has been asked a million times, so I had to joke a little. Mine has been in the shop also, and I just received it back several weeks ago. Wasn't for a bad shutter though. I thought it was the shutter, so did a bunch of other people when theirs broke down, but only a few of those times, was it actually the shutter that was bad.

I did do a search, but came up with nothing - perhaps I used the wrong search words.

I have tried 3 different lenses, 2 CF cards, removed all batteries from the camera repeatedly, so it isn't those.

Hopefully I will get a few more people to respond to restore my faith in the camera.

It's been a while since anybody did a shutter count, so it certainly won't hurt anything.

It will be interesting to see what Canon finds is the problem. I know on a couple of reports here lately, Canon re-installed the firmware to repair the err99 problem. Must corrupt itself somehow. You should be hearing from Canon soon, about what the problem is. They emailed me about mine.

Don't lose faith. Out of the hundreds of thousands of Rebels sold, relatively few have had problems.

603 shots since Feb 13th. Not a prof. photographer like you all, but think I take a good number of pictures. Guess the D300 will last me a good long time. No problems and teaching me a lot about photography.]

I did actually resinstall the firmware anyway (from a fresh download from Canon).

I think I tried everything but getting out my screwdrivers!!!

I terms of losing faith - I was trying to get some objective feedback from a set of owners here at dpreview. Not the most unbiased sample, but at least I was hoping to get a few responses to put my mind at ease.

Thanks for the compliment, but I'm not a professional - just an enthusiastic amateur.

I've also been trying to improve my photography, and have taken a couple of "assignments" to improve and get some exposure. The reason still not a pro - I've not taken a Australian cent - just trying to improve.
