Hello, I will be shooting wedding photography in the near future and wanted to know if anyone uses two-way radios while shooting weddings? If so, any recommendations? I'm looking for something compact that I can use with headphones possibly. Erik

We use cheap uhf jobbies from the electronic store, they work fine except for the PSSSHHFFFT!! in your ear, but I have seen some video guys with some lovely expensive ones and got jealous.

try any decent Haam Radio store - they normally also sell PMR equipment. Handsets are micro-sized nowadays and can be usssed with earpiece/headsets etc. Great for talking to assistaants when your 250 yards away with your 500 f4.... :)

Thanks guys, I'll check it out. Wasn't sure if anyone used them or not. My wife will be helping me out and wanted a way to communcate with her without yelling from a distance and interuping a ceremony. I dont know any sign laugauge so thats out of the question. Happy shooting. Erik

Staples and most discount chains like BJ's here in the East, Costco, etc. Motorola is good for FRS or PMR service ht's.

We use them on vibrate mode, just the cheap ones for about $60 for two
of them. It usually to get the attention and then we use a lot of had signals.
Mostly because there is some interesting pose going on at the reception.
We turn them off during the ceremony.

Also, when the assistant is off downloading or going to the truck for something,

the radios come in handy. "hurry back, cake cutting is starting"..... etc. Some of
our locations are rather large in size and outdoors. We usually go a few hours
early to get guests gathering and are seperated by different things happening
at the site.

The expensive ones are not necessary because you are within a mile. At music
festivals, the ones with more power to go through walls is helpful.

You will learn sigh language soon enough. The radios are okay, but
too much at times. Better for just a quick "notice me" message. Your
wife will have you trained in hand signals really fast.... don't worry....

I don't often have time to really listen to anything but the shortest messages.

"Come here quick"...... lol....
