Hi folks,

I'm a Canon digital guy but a lens nut who still loves his original F-body and Nikkor-P 105/2.5 for portraiture. Since I did this silly excersize for Canon lenses, I thought I'd have fun and do it for Nikon as well. Check out this graphic of most all popular Nikon lenses, mostly AF, in their relative sizes. If you download the "original" into Photoshop and bring up the ruler, you'll see that it's as close to 1:4 scale as possible. Let me know what you think or if there are any egregious errors...

Here are my previous Canon and 3rd-party efforts too...

Well that was several hours wasted! :o

So as I feared, a big waste of time for my own edification only?

Phew, sigh of relief. One hates to be the tree that fell in the woods with no one around :-)

BTW, qualify that with "poor lens nut", so only 6 lenses: 2 Canons, 2 3rd-party, and then my trusty Nikkor 105/2.5P and 50/1.4.
That's cool. Lens nuts are very useful people. How many out of
those Canon lenses you already collected?
Cheers

I enjoyed the Nikon Chart very much. Great effort and much appreciated. Now I see where my 180mm lens sizes up in the whole scheme of things.

Love that image! All those MF'ing lenses - by which I mean "manual
focus" of course ;-) - have such a nice uniform look to them. Just
what IS that big white one??
I think it is a 2000mm

best regards

Tom

It looks like the older version and it lacks the lens max app.

BTW, I kept checking and double-checking the size of the 200-400 VR...it seemed too big but it is indeed twice as long as a non-extended 80- 400 VRM. Anyone know how it handles?
I originally stuck to "common" AF lenses but couldn't resist
putting the 1200-1700 for perspective. You'll note that the lens
extends off the page a few inches to the right...
