trusted old pal...

meets the new member of the family...

Father's Day / birthday gift from a very wonderful & understanding wife.

They seem to be getting along well so far, even left them alone on the same desk & no fighting ;> ) Of course, the rain started again as soon as the FedEx truck left, only let up long enough for me to rush out and snap a couple of shots.

Wish I was a Nikon salesman right now, seems there have been a lot bought by people posting here over the past couple of weeks.

It does not do to leave a live dragon out of your calculations, if you live near him.

Have fun with a great camera; I've had mine for a little over a year now and shot 10,000 pics. with it. I love the reach of the 8x zoom and the degree of manual control it offers. Congratulations.

Love it already Mike, it feels kinda natural after the 4500 if I can just get used to the buttons being in the wrong places. Gotta admit I was expecting something a bit bigger, having never actually seen one up close(joke of dubious taste omitted here).

You ordered from butterfly, right? Ordered mine from them late Wed. night online, had to call yesterday for more information & camera arrived today. Nice experience.
Seems like there's a lot of us Mikes around here these days.

Working on some hummer pics, but haven't got anything but a sunburn to show for it yet. I did manage to catch a few this evening, but 1/8s. is a bit slow for those shots. Oh well, the sun will be back tomorrow.

Thanks. Much fun is definitely anticipated. I've been lusting after one for a little over a year, actually wanted one when I got my 4500 but it was a bit pricey for me then. Now the price is right and I actually got a couple days extra work & have one more coming which will about cover the cost after rebate PLUS I've still got my trusty ol' pal, so it worked out just about right for me.

Great to hear.. I ordered mine last night, got 2 day shipped..wont be here til Tuesday because of the weekend + processing time. Unfortunately I'll be back at my temporary residence and my mom will have to mail it to me..it's going to kill me to have to wait the extra few days, but I guess I dont have much of a choice. :)

Congratulations, Mike. You're going to love it (and probably swear at it occasionally).

BTW, are those stickers not to be removed under penalty of law, kinda' like the labels you find on sofa cushions and such? ;-)
