I found that there are two tiny white particles inside my CP800's front plasitc lens shield. One dust particle does show up on images like a dark water spot sometimes. Are those dust particles common in cameras? And is there any way to solve the problem?

Any input is appreciated.

I too have exactly the same 'problem' ... but on my CP950E !

Thankfully the tiny white particle is placed a fraction off the second 'm' in the abreviation for millimetre - (7 - 21 mm) - and doesn't show up on any images.

I'm dreading the day when it eventually 'falls off' onto the lens !

I too would like a solution to this problem.

Cheers ...

I've been shooting outdoors in the rain and had water on my lens, and this results in a soft, round lighter area on the photograph...and rather difficult to retouch in PhotoShop.

A dust particly in or on the lens would not appear as a dot on the photograph because it is not in the plane of focus. Rather it would appear as a rather small, soft area of less exposure, I would think. Maybe I need to put some dust on my lens and take some pictures...

Ditto.....I received my 800 last week and didn't notice any particles until yesterday, but the redeeming factor was that they didn't show up in the photos. I'm thinking about sending it back because It might just affect the photo of the lifetime when you might least expect it.

Same situation, except on the 950E and on the inner lense unit and near the center of focus. I couldn't see any obvious picture abnormalities but I sent the camera in to Nikon to have the lense cleaned. It's a month old camera.
