The Coolwaker MSV-01 (30gb) is in the currrent Jessops (UK) catalogue at
£399.90 (about $700 US?). Yikes! But there is no note about when it will be available; just says "NEW" I checked and they do not show it anywhere that I can find on their website. For what it's worth.

Take a look at the Vosonic X's Drive Pro. No colour screen, but does have a multi card reader and is half the price of the Coolwalker!

Nikon UK and Grays of Westminster London have both told me that they do not expect it until the end of July at the earliest. From what I have heard it is not worth the price which is almost £400, and that is very expensive when you compare it with other portable storage devices.

I gave up on that and bought a flashtrax - if Nikon had their product shipping before my trips this summer, I might have checked it out for the better RAW support, but my Nikon dealer couldn't give me a date or a US price for it.

Nobody knows when it will be out. I have seen rumors for pricing in the $700 range - to much! You can get a laptop for that!
Sony is coming out with a 40 gig portable storage device, for about $260-$270. Sony is going to dominate this market for a while I think. The reason no one has been able to get a toe hold is because no one has ever heard of alot of the manufactures of the devices that are out there now. People are skeptical, with no clear solution.
Everybody has heard of Sony, so watch out.
Nikon seems to have problems with getting products into cosumers hands quickly. If I were CEO I would do everything I could to fix that, you must get the impulse buys. If people sit around for 2 months waiting for something to become available they might have second thoughts about shelling over $1300 for a lens, or they might realize that in that 2 months time that they have lived with out it anyway, so why do I really need that?
Sony won't have this problem, If you want one all you will have to do is go get it. Watch.

Has anybody seen/used/touched or even owned one of these ? (see it on http://www.thomson.fr/images/teu/lyra_range_nov_2003_fr_301497_34.htm ). The screen looks fantastic.
