This camera is a constant source of amazement

I particularly envy the bee, as I'm finding the bumblebees much to fast for my fumbly fingers to catch so sharply....unlike the little slow bees that seem to pause for a portrait. So far I haven't caught one well....but I've just gotten started with the new toy.

I'll tell you, it wasn't easy getting the bee shots. The mosquitoes were biting soooo bad in the park that my wife and I made a forced march outta there. Thanks, Gary

Awesome...

Can you give us a few more details.

Manual or auto focus

What about WB and which metering did you use. etc...

Just curious... how many photos did you take during your outing? The reason I ask is that since getting my D70 I find I get great photos, but I am also taking a lot more in order to get those gems. Also in order to get used to the camera.

I guess that's one of the axioms of great photos....

thx for sharing your artwork....

OK, to start with, I've never used manual focus with this camera, all auto and in either P or A mode, depending on the bokeh I desire. WB depends on the situation. Generally, leave it on auto but kinda like the smoothness that the cloudy setting gives. All of my pictures are taken hand held so I take a bunch. It's rare that we have a calm day here in the Kansas City area so I usually snap off several of each scene. Same applies to the critters. It's not unusual to take 5 or 6 or a bee to get one good one, they just don't want to sit still for long. Then again, sometimes 2 or 3 Coors Lights seem to steady the camera............ Thanks much, Gary

Thanks Kerry. I really like the first one and you should see it
printed, it'll knock your socks off... Best regards, Gary
They're all very nice shots, Gary. Didn't mean to imply otherwise. I was just a tad jealous of the bee shot. I have a hard time getting those. :-)

I especially like the fisrt one, with the differential focusing blurring out the clean, green background, and the flower razor sharp!

Thomas.

Your macro shots are really impressive. Color, detail DOF. All of it.

BUT I am starting to wonder if you have some trained bees :)

Very nice.

I think those pics should be taken down right away.

They make me and mine look bad.

They remind me that I should be out using my camera to take some decent pics instead of sitting here at this keyboard.
