Hi -

I'm just curios that I can't find a way to use the crop tool while keeping the aspect ratio like 4:3.

Is there a way to achieve this?

Thanks!

The use of the term art medium is, to say the least, misleading, for it is the artist that creates a work of art not the medium. It is the artist in photography that gives form to content by a distillation of ideas, thought, experience, insight and understanding.

This is what i did.

1. choose Rectangle Marquee Tool.
2. Change to Fixed Aspect Ratio from the Style menu
3. select the area to be cropped.
4. Click Image menu and Crop.

I´m unsure if i got your problem right,

but why do you not just select everything for cropping and then drag one corner while pressing the SHIFT key?

Choose the crop tool, then select front image next to resolution. It will then keep your aspect ratio. Personally I hate the rectangular marqee for cropping. It's too hit and miss for me. You can select fixed aspect ratio and enter your ratio if you like, but I prefer the crop tool.

open crop tool-----clear in tool bar (removes resolution number) enter 4 in width 3 in height (or vice-versa) ignore the measurement unit shown---do your crop, adjust as required,it will always keep 4 to 3.

I have a set of Crop and Marquee tool presets on my Web site. They include aspect ratios.

Enjoy!
