Goodbye Nikon...

You're right! I shouldn't try to prove my D70 backfocused. Even if I posted the pictures when I get back to my home computer, those who asked for them wouldn't believe me anyway, but would probably say that I manipulated the images!

Ken

Thanks for the encouragement! I really liked the D70. If it wern't for the backfocusing prblem, I would have never returned it.

All the Best,

Ken

P.S. You're a real pro. Keep up the good work!

I thought you were leaving. Get going and don't let the door hit
you on the backside on the way out.

Thank goodness that leaves one less backfocus poster.
Wishful thinking... most likely this twit will "recycle"
himself into another alias and keep telling us stories
on how outrageously bad the D70 supposedly is.

I mean, he's not going to get a life any soon, is he?

I called Nikon 1 (800) 645-6678 and 1 (800) 645-6689 and they told me that they were, "not aware of any backfocus problem with the D70." I found this disingenuous. Call them yourself, if you don't believe me.

Backfocus is a major problem, not a minor one. A camera that doesn't focus properly is useless!

Ken

P.S. Thanks for the info on the 300D. I was just at the camera store to try one. The build quality seemed fine to me. I mean, I wouldn't drop it on concrete, but then again the D70 would probably be in bad shape if you dropped it on concrete too!

Sorry, I don't buy your BS. It takes three seconds to check
your posting record and realize that ALL you have contributed
to dpreview is D70 bashing.
I love Nikon. My N90s is a winner. I'm posting here to get Nikon's
attention viz. problems with the D70 QC. Right now they don't even
acknowledge that there's a problem, which is unfortunate for all
Nikonians now and doesn't bode well for them in the future. If
Nikon get their act together, perhaps in the future, I will
patronize them again. I have a nice lens collection for my N90s
which is just waiting for a DSLR. But for now I can do what I can
to get their attention - posting my problems with the D70 and by
patronizing their competetor, Canon, the second best camera maker.

Ken

P.S. Please don't call me names. Thanks.
Stop trolling and nobody will even know you exist.

Can you honestly say that if I provide an example of backfocus that you'd believe me?

Nikon doen't even acknowledge the problem. If you don't believe me, call

Nikon @ 1(800) 645-6678 or 1 (800) 645-6689 and ask them! They'll probably tell you what they told me - that they are, "unaware of any backfocus problem with the D70."

Better yet, don't waste your time! Just get out and start taking more great pictures. Your gallery on pbase is awesome! When I get my new DSLR, I won't be spending time arguing with trolls like myself in forums, I'll be out there shooting!

Peace.

Ken

Believe it or not it's true! Nikon is a great company. They can do better!

But they don't even acknowledge the problem: therefore, they cannot correct it. If you don't believe they're in denial, call them @ 1 (800) 645-6678 or 1 (800) 645-6689 and ask them yourself. I'm glad your D70 is a winner (most of them are), but there is a definite backfocusing problem on many. Also, check out Phil Askey's review of the D70. He demonstrates the backfocus problem on p17 or p19. Ciao!

Ken,

I assume that most of these comments are from D70 owners. You should voice your frustration to real professionals in the "Nikon Pro forum" No real pro would own a D70 except as a toy, so it is fair to say that any negative comment you rcvd is from people that feel inadequate enough to feel a threat by not recognizing the problem themselves. Its like getting hit in the face with a lemon pie! I can picture those faces, can't you? POWW, cream dripping off.

So, Please do not respond to any of these "semi-amature pro wanabees" they are simply not qualified to open their mouth or take pictures for that matter.

Your comments are valid, but similar complaints are voiced about lower end canon products (d-rebel and 10d), exchange the D70 for a D2 and forget about it.

Regards

This is the funniest thread I have ever read. Essentially it says that only people who do not own a D70 are qualified to comment about a D70 in the D70 forum.

This is obviously a troll so I will not comment any further.

Thanks for the advise. I'm an amateur as well, and that's why I opt for the low end models. But even a rank amateur like myself can spot backfocus when it rears its ugly head!

Best Wishes,

Ken

P.S. Maybe you're right though - perhaps I should invest in an upgrade!

..available to someone with that amount of cash to spend. It's a great camera.

Ok let's go for the 150!

After reading most of the posts a have a final question to Ken, what did you expect from this D70 forum? That all D70 users will write a letter to Nikon or something like that? I know someone who had bad luck with his Mercedes. The second one wasn't so good either. You think he is buying a Mercedes again? No he won't, but that doesn't mean that there a no happy M drivers. Nikon made a mistake, every camera that costs 1400 euro's must be perfect ok. That isn't the case, but Nikon will do better with the next shipments and they will calibrate the BF camera's. I understand that the fun is over for you, but maybe there comes a time that you get your hands on a D70 that is ok and you will find out what you can do with it .
Cool, it's almost reached it's maximum 150 posts!! Then this
thread will be gone forever!! lol
