Is there away to use Paint Shop Pro 7 to read pictures in RAW format? I am using a micro drive and the card reader. I would appreciate if anyone can tell me how I can get this into my computer w/o using zoombrowser which seems to overwhelm my not so fast computer.

You can't read RAW format directly with PSP 7 (or with Adobe Photoshop, for that matter). You can import it through the TWAIN driver. Select File, then Import, then Twain. You'll have to select the TWAIN driver if there are drivers other than the Canon G1. I'm not sure how it works with a card reader, I connect directly to the camera.

I guess if I want to connect to the Camera this would work, but I don't want to use the Camera as the card reader is much faster. Is there anyway to get it from the Card reader in any program other than Zoombrowser?

Hi Abe,

You can read the CF card in the PCMCIA port with PSP7. Use Fille, Import, Twain, Acquire, then MyComputer, and select the drive that contains the files. Once the thumbnail apperas, right click and then click the "Set RAW Param" line... works great!

Sounds like you can also batch read the CF card via he Twain screen by selecting Acquire All, but I wonder where those files are, maybe only alive as RAW files while the Twain session is active?

We need a tutor, huh!

Good luck, Ron.

Abe,

Even easier than I realized: simply copy the CF flash card files from the PCMCIA or card reader into their HD folder using Windows Explorer, then you can access the RAW files using PSP7. Use File, Import, Twain, Acquire, then MyComputer, and select the folder that contains the files. Once the thumbnail appears, right click and then click the "Set RAW Param" line... works great! That means the conventional card reader technique will work, so you can download the files into the computer to be edited later and take your emptied memory card back for more camera work immediately.

Each image has two files, a Crwxxxxx.crw and a Crwxxxxx.thm which need to stay in the same folder for the Twain import to work with RAW files.

I think I like it! You will too... Ron.
